Okay, I need advice. Hubby is too busy to fix the leaky sink. We have one of those faucets that have one handle that lifts up and turns to the right or left. If I remember right, we've have trouble with these types before.

It's leaking bad now. In fact I shut off the water under the sink this morning.

Do they sell re-build kits for these? Or should I simply replace it? Should I replace it with a better type? It seems if I remember right, we replaced one in another home, with two handles. I can't remember.

Any thoughts?

DH usually does these repairs for me and if I recall he's had to replace those types. I think you can replace some washers but he's never had much luck with that so the last one that sprung a leak just got replaced from the get-go. I believe we replaced the leaky one with the same type but a Moen this time. The original was a cheapy brand.

Years ago while he was working out of state, I replaced a broken water line leading to the faucet. Got the trusty repair book out and studied what I needed to do. Went to the hardware store and bought the right size pipe, then followed the book and after awhile, turned the water back on and GLORY TO GOD! it didn't leak! Not only was I proud of my accomplishments but DH was amazed I could do it! My repaired line is still in use to this day without a single leak!

Good luck on your project Kristina! Whether you replace the faucet or repair it, I know you can do this successfully, post back when you "get 'er done".

Oh and I see on another post you're wondering about doing your dishes. I've always found bathtubs make great temporary kitchen sinks! Even a shower with a plastic tub will do in a pinch!

Type into GOOGLE type of faucet you have and that it leaks and look at the videos section. I repaied a bathroom sink by watching a video not to mention I fixed our lawn mower from watching a video.

Hope you get the help you need for your sink.

hugs,
