I was just wondering when I was stitchin' last nite.
I wonder how other gals finish their knots?

I make a triple knot when I end and I make a knot by rolling the thread when I first start. That is if I even use a knot. I try to "not use a knot" at the begining if I can. I use a loop and under to start without a knot, like I was taught for counted cross-stitch.

lots of ways to start ( from lest bulk to most bulk)
loop stitch knot
split stitch knot
bullion knot ( known as a quilters knot)
rolled knot ( known as a taylors knot)
just a traditional knot

finishing ways are below ( same from lest bulk to most bulk)
weaveing in
quilters knot
basic knot

( iuse any and all of the above if it is for a quilt I don't care which I use as there is padding bulk not an issue)
If it is for a wall piece then the least bulk possible as it needs to lay flat in frame
If it is for a work that can be seen on both sides least bulk possible

these are in order of least bulk to bulkiest

have a lovely day and may God bless you and keep you safe

I forgot to mention there is also a wast not used to start with. This is similer to weaving in. You place a knot on the top side of your work 3 or so inches away from where you are stiching when done cut knot thread needle and weave in tails.

ha! funny you should ask and i should see this question! at my dolly class last weekend i was teaching my "PRIMITIVE SNOT KNOT" to the gurlz! (well, actually, i call it a 'booger knot' ... this all developed when i was teaching dollmaking to a group of children! they just weren't 'getting it' .. so i told them to wind the thread around a finger, then roll it (kinda' like they would a 'booger') .. then to FLICK IT! and THERE .. they had a 'booger knot'!

The booger knot sounds like what I usually use.
