It re-seeded itself from last year. I was totally shocked to see it out there today. So is my asparagus, and some has already gone to seed. I guess I better start checking it more often.
Oh how fun! I love surprises and volunteer veggies. I planted a mix of lettuces 2 days ago and they are already coming up. I have never grown asparagus before but my dad had a little patch. He was so proud of them and babied them. I don't really like them. But if I had really fresh ones, like Brussels sprouts and brocolli, I would love them.
I planted heirloom tomatoes yesterday. three different kinds. I am so excited. One is from the russian sea area one is the cherokee and the other an amish kind. Cant wait.Ive never done heirloom before.

Sheesh, Kristina, everytime I see a subject line I am interested in, you are the author! We have a lot in common. I was wondering how many years you have had your asparagus. My dad used to grow it commercially in CA, where I grew up ... but, I haven't tried it here in the Pacific NW. It sure was a "different animal" than what is in the stores now. marianne
We will have to replant rhubarb this year. Our garden nearly died from flooding waters last year (lots of rain), and our rhubarb died. Thankfully, our asparagus is on the other side of the garden.
