I went to a class at our library last night about rain gardens. I have an area in my yard that floods during rains. Which then causes my elderly neighbors to get water in their basement. I usually hook up a hose and pump it out to the street.
If I can find the right plants for my area, partial sun, northside of house - I would love to put one in. Everything I learned last night is leading me to believe it will work.
Wondering if anyone has put their own in?

No, but the library where I used to work had one and it did a great job. It was really pretty with all the native plants and flowers, too.
A hook, a book, and a good cup of coffee.... |

No, but here is a website that will help you figure out what plants will work in the "wet zone": http://www.wheatonparkdistrict.com/pdfs/NativePlantSale.pdf
These are all IL natives, so they should work pretty well for you in "The City". Sadly, I didn't see a date for the plant sale :(
