Anyone have a supplier of one day old chicks they love? I missed the window of opportunity at Tractor Supply to purchase the buff orpington chicks I wanted. I found Mc Murray Hatchery online and they look ok but really would feel better hearing what you have used and who you like. I'm not thrilled about having to purchase 25 at a time but it's what happens when you don't buy at the store when the store has what you want.

Thank you!!

I have bought from McMurray for as many years as I can remember, as well as my family and most friends and neighbors...never had a problem, not even once...also you can mix that 25 min, doesn't have to be all the same breed, and maybe someone you know might want to go in with you...

I agree with Tina that Murray McMurray is good to order from,I've always had good luck with them too though I have also had good chicks arrive from Cackle Hatchery and Welp.I like to order Murray's meat and egg offer where you get ten laying birds and fifteen meat birds to every twenty-five birds it's a nice way to establish a small flock and put some dressed birds in the freezer and table at the same time.

I like Murray Mcmurray alot, but they don't always have my favorite breed ISA Browns. They hold the record for the biggest and most eggs laid. And they aren't very big either. Love them. They look similar to red stars so they aren't real pretty birds, but they are hearty and I'm in it for the eggs myself. Randall Burkey has them sometimes.

Check and see if there is a hatchery in your state. I use Ideal Poultry out of Cameron, Texas. I have never had a problem with any of my orders (chicks, geese, guineas). I used Murry for a couple of years before I found my state hatchery, great service, good-looking chicks. The reason I use in-state, is the shipping is over night by truck to the post office.

I ordered mine from WELP and I received them all healthy and happy. We got Plymouth Barred Rocks, New Hampshire Reds and Ameracaunas. Welp is located in IA.

I went through Cackle Hatchery, and every one of my chicks turned out healthy and strong...and pullets - as ordered!
They are in Lebanon, MO, which isn't too far from Arkansas.
