Yes, a recipe for the coconut oil deodorant would be great.

Just bought some at Walmart in the cooking oil section. They had regular and organic--of course I chose the organic. I bought it for cooking, but started using it as face and hand cream, as my skin gets so dry in winter.

Blessedgirl, if you still need a recipe, look under the homesafehome forum, under the topic Deodorant. It's where I got the recipe and it works well for me!

Coconut oil is suppose to reduce cholesterol. I use it for my cooking needs - especially when I fry eggs. We use it in our soaps, deodorants and facial cleanser. I don't know what I did without it. I just love going all natural!

I love this stuff! Great for body, face, hair and for cooking. I even use some of my cat. He has dry skin issues. Sometimes I will dig out a junk and eat it with some cinnamon.

Find something beautiful in everyday!

I have been using coconut oil in the place of shortening in many of my mother's recipes. I usually don't need half us much shortening and my baked goods come out delicious and moist! I have also used a little in my hair and it makes it very soft and shiny!

I have been using coconut oil for everything for a years, including cooking :). I order a large tub from Vitacost for most cosmetics, but I also order from Tropical Traditions for cooking, and for my daughter. She puts coconut oil in her hair, and does not like the smell of regular coconut oil (IMAGINE!!! that is the best part!) :)....anyways, TT has coconut oil that hardly has a scent. I use both their PURE and Organic oil. They also have excellent customer service and stand behind their product. If you have a CostCo near, see if they carry Nutiva Pure Virgin Coconut Oil, I bought a huge tub for around $15 on sale.

Since coconut oil is becoming more popular, I would be careful where I buy it. Some cheaper brands may come with "extras" you did not know about, or not be as pure. Our skin is our biggest organ, so we need to be careful what we let it ingest :).
Greetings
Heike

It does have anti fungal properties. I had yeast on my leg and a prescription steroid cream didn't clear it up. And I hate steroid anything. I used coconut oil on my leg everyday and the yeast cleared up. And best part it hasn't returned. I use in cooking, on my hands and face. Put some on my hands and rubbed into cats fur and it has been so dry. Love this stuff

Around here our grocery stores carry it, Trader Joe's and now Costco carries a very large container. It 's good to cook with, season your cast iron and for your skin, it's awesome. I grew up with it in Hawaii, rub it all over my hair when I went to the beach. Love the stuff.

Hmmmmm. Learn something new every day. I never thought of using coconut oil to season my cast iron skillet. Great idea. I use it in some things but it sounds like I should be using it a whole lot more. I never dreamed of so many uses.

My father used to swear by coconut oil for good health. It must work--he passed last year one month short of 104.

I've been using coconut oil for a while now. But not consistently. I do use it in my cast iron as it can take the heat better than olive oil.

Judith,
How did your dad use it?

I have never tried the coconut oil on popcorn yet but my son has started doing that and loves it. He says it gives it a delicious flavor. He also uses ghee on it instead of butter. I am going to try it and see how it works.
