Yep, it's that time again. My fur-baby is shedding non-stop. I only have one dog, but I swear I vacuumed up three! She is getting her summer coat. I brush and brush her. Goodness! I am glad Spring is on the way, though, and she doesn't shed like this all the time. Anyone else drowning in dog fur?

Nicole, sounds like me but I have 3 dogs. I feel like I am wearing it most of the time. I can touch them and see hair falling all over. And my floors... They all need to be bathed but it's still a little chilly.

Two dogs, two cats...you bet we're covered in fur! Makes me craziest when it's all over the floors. I sweep and ten minutes later you'd never know it was done. We get "fur Yetis" (way larger than dust bunnies) that grow overnight!!

I know, right? I could stuff big pillows with all the fur. She reminds me of an old Christmas tree dropping needles. She can stand still and I see the hairs just flitting down to the floor. But, she's so worth all the mess and fuss.

Also have two cats. If you ask the dog, it's their fault, too. ;)

Oh!!! Nicole, your fur baby has the sweetest face. It's just like our dogs to blame the cats. LOL. One of my four outside cats is shedding major fur. I can see it floating all over outside.

Try a horse grooming block. It pulls all the hair and dirt right out!!

Right there w/ ya!

My dog has long hair and has been shedding since January.

but I found out altered dogs shed all year...hence the constant tumbleweeds.

LOVE IT!

I've got 3 super fuzzy ponies and some not so fuzzy, lol. Two are Fjords, the breed originated in Norway, so to say they have a winter coat is an understatement, lol.

Thanks, girls. She has the sweet personality to go with it. She was a rescue dog and knows it. She loves us with her full heart, fur-sure. (Pun intended, sorry, can't help it). @Alee, what a great idea. I bet I still have my old horse brush in the garage, too. Will try that.

collect that fur and scatter in your gardens, will help deter some of the rodents, plus birds will use it to make soft nests for their chicks...

Between our two german shedder dogs and the two short hair dogs, vacuuming is a daily task. I found the best undercoat rake at Amazon, and it works wonders to remove the hair..it doesn't shave them like the furminator does, it just gets in under the outer coat and pulls the dead hair out. With a spray bottle of water to keep the static down and the hair from flying around, and this rake, it makes quick work of getting that dead hair out.
It is called the "JW Pet Company GripSoft Double Row Undercoat Rake Dog Brush" and it is less than $10. I think they come in different sizes for dogs with varying lengths of hair. I looked for something like this in all of the pet stores around, and the rakes they have don't work as well as this does.

I use a fur rake on my pup too. Really gets to the thick undercoat.

Didn't know those Furminators shave...Guess I'll save my hard earned $$ then. Cause I don't NEED to shave my pooch, just get rid f the extra hair!

Pity I can't knit. seriously. It would be a nice keepsake when she's gone. My pretty dog doesn't smell and her fur is so soft

@Tina, Oh, I know! Last year that is how I saved my squash. The chipmunks were stealing my blossoms. Last year I just emptied my vacuum and that took care of that! @Paula, I will look into that! My vacuum came with an attachment brush, kind of looked like the old "flowbees" advertised on tv when I was a kid. She was horrified when I used it. @Paula, love it.."german shedders". Our pup is half German Shephard/half husky...so I call her my "German Shusky". She is the most spoiled creature I've ever met, and she spoils me right back!

Hugs,

Nicole
