My mother loved kumquats and they can be hard to find so I got her a tree one year for her birthday. They grow on a tree and you eat them peel and all. Yummy!

What a lovely gathering of good things from Darlene! That little Bee is adorable too.
Darlene, Kumquats grow on a tree just like orange do except they are much smaller fruit about 2 inches long and 1 inch wide. You just wash them off and pop them into your mouth. The skins are sweet and the flesh part is sour so they make for an unusual treat. You can also slice them up in little rings and add to salads. I like them in marmalade because they just add a different layer flavor. Down here, they usually begin ripening in December about Christmas time and you can find them in grocery stores.

I had one recently and didn't think it was ripe because of the sour rind, I gave them to my friend.
I will keep that in mind for the next time.
Yes we usually see them around Christmas time here too in tiny bunches, so when they are gone they are gone.
