It seems like us farmgirls love to cook and exchange recipes, so maybe you would consider a topic for this. I already asked two sisters for recipes for Chicken and Dumpling and Homemade Yogurt. Yummy!!

I agree, Joan. A topic just for that would be wonderful. I used to put recipes, but they'd seem to get lost on the site. Hope they consider it, at least. Marly

I was just going to ask for a recipe section. They are all over in the forums and it would be nice to have them all together.
God bless,

I like the idea of "Cooking/Recipes" being in one section only. I agree. Marly

YEAH! I vote for a RECIPE section too! I've been all over the Net to learn how to harvest seeds this bright day and now have a colorful collection drying on the tabletop (purple bell peppers, light sweet banana peppers, sweet red bells, and superb mouth-watering cantaloups). Who knew it was this easy! So those of you who farm and/or can your goods (or just thrive in the kitchen), maybe we can swap seeds with recipes? |

I vote for that, too. Good luck. Marly

Limoncello for everyone...LoL! Here ya go and enjoy!
2 1/2 pounds Meyer lemons 10 lemon leaves 1 liter distilled spirits (90%% to 95%% pure spirits) 1 1/2 pounds sugar 34 ounces water
Wash the lemons and leaves; with a potato peeler remove the rind from the lemon (take care to only remove yellow skin and non of the white pith)
Place lemon rind, leaves and alcohol in a sealed jar and let it soak for two or three weeks.
Toward the end of the two/three weeks put sugar and water in a pan, let it boil for 4 minutes and let it cool.
Mix everything, remove the lemon rind and filter the mixture through a coffee paper filter or washed cheesecloth.
Pour into bottles and place in freezer. In few hours the Limoncello is ready to be served.

It would be nice to have the cooking and recipes in one area. It is a terrific idea. Marly

Can we reintroduce this section on Cooking/Recipes? It would make my life a lot easier for cooking and not having to search on the internet for recipes. Instead just go to this forum for suggestions

Great idea! Our own Farmgirl recipe swap section! Hello, administrators, how about it?

Hi girls! There's already a place for your recipes! The Farm Kitchen category says underneath it that it's the place to "Share recipes, storage solutions, cooking tips and more." Maybe you should start a thread there called "Recipe Swap" or just use our search function once you've clicked on Farm Kitchen. Happy cooking! Carol

Really arriving to this conversation LATE (been really really busy), but I LOVE TO COOK and tend to collect cookbooks from all around the world and clip recipes (rip them out of magazines most likely) and trade and for a lifetime. I even hit the library when they have a 10-cent sale and buy every related managine! I got outtamymind about the collection some time ago and then scrapbooked a few. That was really pretty, but never going to work for me. I tried Word and had too many recipes to make it realistic (MS corrupts with larger files). So then my dogs got the groove and were thoughtful enough to purchase mom some recipe software (The Living Cookbook) and I applied my heart and soul to it long enough to log in 4000 recipes with about that many more to go (I did say busy, right?). This worked SO WELL that I recommend it and sware by it!
I set up theses folders for cooking, harvesting, canning, etc. towards a more self-sufficient life. Any recipe can be dropped into a general folder can stay there uncategorized. And web pages and pdf files (and from scanned images of clipped recipes) can be copied and pasted.

I'd love to see a recipe section. Farm kitchen includes so much that the recipes get lost. Susan
