I'm thinking about starting some of these plants to harvest their seeds. What I'm reading about them sounds like they are easy to grow. Has anyone else grown these plants? Any words of wisdom about starting a crop of any of them? I did read that quinoa and amaranth tend to cross-pollinate.

Paula: Last year we planted amaranth in the window box. It produced a wonderful crop. It was easy to grow. We didn't do anything special. Good luck.

Thank you for the input! I'm still shopping for seeds. Hope to find some soon!

I am going to take a whack at growing some amaranth, and millet this year. Hopefully I can use it for my chickens.

I planted amaranth in the garden, but it never even sprouted. Should I have started it inside? I kept it well watered outside. I'm not sure what to try for next year.
