Hi Farmgirls! Just wanting to share my happy news with you. I have a new weekly column in my hometown newspaper, and for today's first entry I've shared how this "News Tribune" has been a part of my life... all the way back to a wedding announcement for my great-grandparents in 1913.

Tickled pink to be a home-town-girl in this farming and ranching community. Happy to have so many newspaper clippings in my scrapbooks.

Thanks everyone! Yes... I'm very excited. The editor likes how I write about our community on my blog and told me I could use things I'd already written if I'd like. Ha ha! I told him it was never a problem for me to come up with things to write about! Thrilled to have another outlet.

(By the way... I've just been on an incredible vacation in South America and am writing about it on my blog. If you're a traveler, you might enjoy popping over there.)

Thanks again everyone! And Susan... the link to the column is up in the first post. As far as an "on going link"... no, I don't think so.

I love creative writing, and my blog is actually my favorite place for writing about the Simple Pleasures of life. (No rules to follow... just my own thing!) I think I actually have a much larger "audience" there... but it's truly a wonderful honor for me to have this new column in my hometown paper. Feel like I've come full circle in my writing life. =)

I'm excited for this coming Tuesday's post. I talk about a woman who wrote for the paper when I was a little girl in the 1960s. She wrote for it until she was well into her 90s! Lots of little things about the goings-on in our town. I have various clippings about my family gatherings... all the guests listed... even a little 3 year old girl named Sandy.

Sandy,

How wonderful it is to read about the history you are keeping alive. It must be so meaningful to find these connections from the past. To have been part of this newspaper for so many generations is really something.

Congratulations I hope you have many wonderful experiences with your new postition.

How great! Your experiences with this new column, and the background about how this newspaper has been a part of your family for generations, sounds like it would make a great story for MaryJanes Farm magazine someday. I look forward to reading your column. :)

Thanks to everyone! Your comments really make me smile.

I've combined the first two columns and added them to my blog along with a couple of photos of my old newspaper clippings.
