Many of you know that DH and I moved to Florida almost 2 years ago because my Dad was ill and that he passed away in Jan. Dh and I have been debating what to do next and I planned to stay in Florida for awhile. God has other plans. We have the opportunity to cross the country to Portland, OR the end of April for at least 13 weeks and we have agreed to go. We will keep the house in Florida and plan to return here but we don't know when. We hope to take a contract to Calif. after Portland and then maybe Hawaii before coming home for good.
This is a life-long dream for us and I will also be able to do the last thing on my "bucket list"-see my husband see the Grand Canyon. (yes, we are going to Portland via the southern route.) I am a little apprehensive about going 3200 miles-literally from one end of the country to the other-but I am also SO excited!! This is a wonderful opportunity for us and it is coming at a time when I am burnt out at my ER job so I am ready for a change.
I can't wait to see the Pacific ocean and hopefully meet some Northwest farmgirls. Joey

Wow, what an adventure, for you and hubby Joey, I am so happy for you. You will have the time of your life.
In 1996 when hubby retired from the Army we traveled cross country from Savannah to Colorado, what an adventure and fun we had. You have a bit further to go but oh the things you will see and the places you will go:-)
Hugs,
Deb

Joey, sounds so exciting!!! My hubby will be retiring in 2 years and we plan on getting a motor home and travel all over the country. There are so many beautiful places in this country to see. Good luck with your adventure!!!

Congrats to you, Joey!! How funny, though. Hubs and I have traveled everywhere, because we were truckers, and now, all we want to do is stay home and discover it! It's strange, we've lived here for years and I still don't know my way around!! I can drive from Portland to NYC without a map but can barely navigate the largest city to us.

Dear Joey you go and live your dream, leave the apprehension at home. Being a travel nurse is a great way to see the country, meet great people. You got what it takes so, you go girl.

What a great adventure! I hope you enjoy every minute of it! I have driven across this beautiful country three times and I can tell you it never gets old! I love this country! There is just no better way to see it, or enjoy it, than by driving yourself; being able to stop when you see something interesting adds so much to the journey! Have a fantastic journey, take loads of pics to share, and traveling mercies!

Thanks for all the positive comments. I am excited but still have much to do before we leave the end of March.
Winona, my Dh used to be a trucker. I know you are in OR. How far are you from Portland? Maybe we could get together after I get there. I'd like that. Any other OR gals out there? Joey
