I'm sooo tempted to do so. I've been taking stock of my God given talents, and, unfortunately, they are of the sort that don't really pay anymore. I'm not a truck driver for the time being. Health issues and all that.

However, I've always been able to write. So, I found that Amazon will publish your ebook. The hardest part seems to be getting started. I have a lot of writings but am afraid, of all things.

I was on another back-to-simpler-times website and some people were talking about epublishing. They aren't making a killing but are making some grocery money. I checked into Amazon further and it seems simple.

Since I'm so tech challenged, I'm afraid I'll mess it up.

So, anyone else ever given it a try??

My neighbor published her novel through Lulu. http://www.lulu.com/ She seems pretty satisfied with them. Her sales have been pretty good too. She offers a softcover as well as an E version.

Thank you, will check them out also.

I am getting somewhere with my ebook writings. Once I took the plunge, it got a lot easier!! The first step is the hardest!! I'll let everyone know when I publish. Will probably offer for free or $.49 at first, probably free to get the exposure. Lots to learn!

Thank you for recommending Lulu! I checked it out & bookmarked it. I've been writing a "how to play" book for Irish tenor banjo but was wondering how to publish on my own. Nowhere near ready to print yet but it is a work in progress.

I have been going through Lulu and like it much better! Not that I know that much about Amazon either, but Lulu is more newbie friendly, at least at this point, seems that way.

Thanks for recommending it!

Winona, how is your e-book going? Getting started is the hard part. I have helped my daughter write a few but have not started one myself. Here is one she is working on now."The Boy Who Saved His Wish" A Book for Children
http://kck.st/zyXWk9

I have lots of stories in my head, my husband and I worked in a club in Greenwich Village NYC for several years called "Nobody's" and it was a blast and a lot of stories. One day I shall write about it. But getting started that is what stops me. I keep saying one day when I have lots of time.
Keep us posted.
Linda

With lots of hugs and smiles, have a great day.

Well, I'm still having a hard time, but, it's getting easier. I have a tendency to make simple things hard, which is prolly what I'm doing now. If it's hard, I can make things easy. Always the opposite for me.

So, today I'm working on making the thing easier. Redoing it. Almost starting from the beginning or starting over. The Kindle publishing community is pretty helpful and supportive, too.

It's been a real learning experience. Most people think you can sit down and 'just write a book'. Heh...yeah, right! Maybe some can but I have to look at it like a real job, which it is! It's more work than you think! :-) HA!

I agree, it is a lot of work and it doesn't just pop down on the paper. You have to think it, put it together, correct it and redo it. Sometimes it comes and sometimes it has to be forced. Hang in there, you will get it done.

Hey Gals,
Thanks for sharing the info about Lulu. I will keep that in mind as I have wanted to try ebooks for many years but have been busy raising the kiddos. I think I am finally getting to the point where I can revisit the writing idea.

Here's something funny. I took an aptitude test to see about going back to school and guess what? Writing and Marketing Research are my forte! So, here I come!!

Also, proofreading is a big thing for me. I used to do proofing for a large newspaper and have done so for friend's stories and writings. I just don't know how to get started over the internet with that... Guess I'll talk to the school about it.

I put the ebook on the back burner for a bit. As I wrote above, I have a tendency to make simple things hard. Well, this time wasn't any exception...
