Went looking for a new bowl to use at work as I destroyed the made in china thing I was using once I realized where it came from. It was a tough job but I found that the clear glass ones are made in USA by Anchor-Hocking and are even cheaper that the china junk. Also, has any one else see the ABC tv report on how that large bridge project in California was outsourced to China? The State spokesman claimed that China could do it cheaper. It also seems that here in Alaska they are talking about outsourcing our proposed bride to China. Boy am I going to scream and holler about that one.

bought a nordic ware 13x9 cake pan. didn't know it was made in the US until I saw a thing on ABC about it.

I was being lazy and bought valentine day cards for my son for daycare at wallyworld. The pack was 97 cents and contained 32 cards. The other day I got really looking at the package. Made in the USA for the blind (something International. Has to do with blindness. Don't have the box in front of me). Talk about doubling down. Made in the US and for a charity and not a big business. Not themed either (Cars, Toy Story, etc) Pay attention at walmart. There are some things for the good of others and this country in there.

The only new book store in Wasilla closed. Must drive into Anchorage, an hour away to get new books so mostly I book shop on Amazon. When I do I always look to see if any of the Goodwill stores have the book used. That way a charity gets some benefit from the shopping at least.

If you are a crafter, Red Heart yarn is made here in the USA. Also, Connecting Threads uses USA-grown cotton in their fabrics.

When I shop I try to find what I'm looking for that is made in the US. I'll settle for Canada if I can't find one here in the US but I try to avoid the other overseas stuff if at all possible. I'm not being prejudiced but we need to support our country, better yet I try to buy my stuff as locally as possible even when it comes to food I'd rather buy conventionally grown local produce than buying organic from s. america.... But that is an entirely different can of worms :)

I used to look for brooms that were made by the Industries for the Blind but I guess they either do not make them any more or no one up here carries them. Best brooms ever.

I purchased some of the glass bowls, too, and really like them. The plastic lids are also the "good" kind of plastic that doesn't leach out. I try to buy only Made in USA items, but it's tough finding them. On food products, I first look at the label and try to buy US organic products. VitaCost is an excellent online company for organics and they offer discount prices. I do buy foods from Canada, England, France, Italy, Australia, and Belgium (especially chocolates since Hershey is now made in Mexico and maybe China but not sure about that). I'm trying to avoid GMOs, unfermented soy, and partially hydrogenated oils, so if I can't find what I need that's made in the US, I'll go with those other countries listed above. It's awful what's happening here in America, with all the loss of jobs to China and other countries. Too bad about that bridge. Unbelievable!

I've been wanting more enamelware dishes for my kitchen (kids can't break them!) but I've only been able to find them made in Mexico or China, it's so frustrating. I will search for vintage USA made if I have too! I don't even care if they are the same color anymore I just want USA made enamelware dishes!

The other day I was looking for a dust pan in Jack's Country Store. There were about 4 to choose from. I found one made in the USA...yea! When going through the check out, I always say (if I can find made in USA) that is the reason I bought it. They need to hear that. Maybe it will sink in sooner or later. Hugs, Mary

i agree, i go go for made in the US local and organic first. but it is awfully hard to find. and the cost is another issue, but if we don't start supporting us, it's only going to get worse. and i avoid Wal_Mart at all costs anymore. third generations have killed more than one company and that one is going down the same path. IMHO. Goodwill is a good place to find stuff to repurpose. we find lots of stuff there.

Just wanted to share one of my favorite "made in the USA" products - Salmon Falls Pottery! Made right here in America in Dover, NH, it is one of, if not THE, best potteries around. You can see a lot more of their wares on Facebook (including adorable seasonal items and special gift sets), but here is a link to their website: www.salmonfalls.com on which you can get a very general idea of the types of pottery wares they offer and see a selection of current patterns (but not all! believe me there are more pottery items and patterns in the store than online!).

I actually collect four of their patterns: Lovebirds, blue vine, blue green vine, and blue Pennsylvania. Pretty much all of their pottery can be mixed and matched - the colors and designs really do coordinate beautifully. And they are excellent as far as retaining heat to keep foods warm or cold to keep cold foods cool. Perfect from oven to table to dishwasher (wash like a breeze - you will love this pottery!). You can make food ahead and freeze it - just thaw before putting in the oven to avoid stress on the pottery; and vice versa - you can use it in the freezer once your leftovers have cooled! I just can't say enough about this great pottery and the people you will "meet" who work there! I absolutely, hands down, love Salmon Falls Pottery - they and their products are truly what "American made" is all about!
