Here's the charm square apron I've been working on...
http://quiltingonthesquare.com/btfreepattern.aspx
I can't seem to figure out how to do the waistband though. I've got the 25 squares sewn together, but not sure what to do next. Anyone willing to take a look and help explain it to me?
Thanks!

Wendy,
I looked at the pattern and read the part about the waistband a couple of times. The waistband is attached to the body of the apron with the waistband being sewn wrong side out initially and then turned right side out and turn 1/4 inch of the waistband under. At this point you need to topstich the open section of the waistband down to the backside of the apron body. Hope this helps.

This is how it looks to me...take your waistband piece and find the center point and mark it, then find the center point on the apron. Match them, then sew only the section where the apron joins the waistband, and only on one side of the waistband. Press the whole unopened seam up from the apron. Fold the waistband, right sides together, then sew each end, then side together up to the apron. Turn the waistband tie ends by pulling them through the opening at the center. This will leave an opening at the apron top, but the edges will be neatly folded down for you to hand sew the center section.

Thanks ladies!
I've been sewing for years and kept reading over the directions and they just weren't making sense to me for some reason. I'll work it out today with your help.

I understand. I've been knitting for ages, but still can't master the Kitchener stitch, and I don't want to make toe up socks. |
