Hello Ladies! December was amazingly busy with the business and working at the college-and my check card # was used in Jan without my permission for somebody to get a tattoo. Had to shut down that card, and get a new one. Thankfully,my bank has been wonderful and repaired my account. (it was a single use of over $400!) I'm writing a book on how to play Irish tenor banjo, running the online stores, and playing the electric violin I got for Yule. Also decided to get my classical guitar playing back in shape and start teaching again. I purchased a classical off Goodwill auctions for under $20,to be my "take around & teaching" instrument. I do have a concert classical here but it's bigger than I like for traveling about. This one is a smaller,English made model. It's coming in from Tacoma & I'll post pics when it arrives. I still want to leave the job at the college. Missed you girls & have wondered how you all are!

The Irish tenor banjo sounds cool.I've probably heard it played before as I listen to Celtic music a lot. What does an electric violin sound like? I have a friend who plays the hammered dulcimer and it's so beautiful. There are some very lovely musical instruments out there that most people don't know about. Cindy

The electric violin sounds amazingly like an acoustic, except it sounds a lot better than the acoustic fiddle that I have here- my acoustic is a student model but suits my purposes-plus I'm hoping as I keep playing it the tone improves on it as fiddles often do The strings vibrating the wood as you play often improves the instrument tone wise. Hammered dulcimer is a gorgeous sounding instrument-tho I wouldn't want to tune or restring one (yikes!)I have some beautiful Yule CDs of hammered dulcimer music. Irish tenor banjo is tuned the same as fiddle & mandolin GDAE so it has a lower more mellow tone when compared to standard tenor banjo. Like a Mandola.(octave mandolin) I just got a book of English & Scottish tunes for irish tenor banjo I'll be trying out this afternoon. It was on clearance at Elderly Instruments & I couldn't resist. Have you ever tried tinwhistle?

No, I've never played the tin whistle but I sure love how it sounds! The only instrument I really ever played is the saxophone and that was many years ago. We used to have an electric organ (think 1970's) and I goofed around on that a lot. I just love Celtic and Native American music. And I agree I wouldn't want to tune the hammered dulcimer--my friend's e-name is 114strings.That's a lot of strings to tune! Cindy
