Karen, You have been busy!!! I love the bags. I haven't been on the boards for a while and was hoping to still see your name. Hope the soapmaking is going well and sometime we gotta get a FARMGIRL group going in the Chippewa Valley!

I made these this summer as well. How do you paste in a picture from My Pictures in this post? I love to see everyone's work, and I can't figure out how to do it myself? Once I made three of these, my sister snagged my favorite one. Supposedly, she will give it back when she makes her own, but since she does not sew, I know I can kiss that one good-bye and hope it ahs a good life with her. :-)
I also realized that I made them the size in the Shoulder to the Wheel issue, but the MJK book has them in a larger size. What size did you ladies make?
I love the scrapbooking idea and wonder if you used a background sheet and built on top of it. Was it firm enough for the bag?

Hi, Clare!
There are instructions for posting photos under Technical Support/Posting Photos - here's the link: [http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2648] . If you still have trouble, just let me know - I'll see what I can do to help.
Glad to have you with us!
XOXO, Libbie

celebrate2727, on your football bag what materials did you use? Is it cardstock and newspaper clippings? Or something of that sort? |

With using the photo paper does it lay pretty flat? I wasn't sure if with the thicker paper it would work out quite right, yours looks great though so I'm assuming it works just fine :) |

Any tips on handling the contact paper? With it being on a roll it's kind of difficult to get the backing paper off with out getting creases in the contact paper. |

I had my daughter help with this. I put the contact paper facing down amd held the edges, then she pulled off the backing very slowly to keep it from creasing. I also found the darker the picture the more bubbles/creases will show. so I use light photos and then when it is placed on the paper, start at one end and sorta roll it across. Then take a ruler and slide it across the contact paper and work out as many bubbles as you can. I think having help with this is very important. Good luck!

These are the coolest bags ever!! The pictures actually did them justice too. I never carry a pocketbook (I used a watering can--painted, for a purse a few times when I needed to hold my money and stuff), but I would use these for sure. My friends would love them too. Thanks for sharing!! |

Well, I tried out my first one tonight and didn't have much luck with it. It's all together but I had a hard time sewing the sides together without getting the bottom piece and the bottom corners bent up. As they say I'll "try, try again"...lol |

The bags are wonderful! I made several from my son's preschool paintings. I made several for friends too using their kids' paintings.. when little ones are in preschool there are oodles and oodles of paintings that just can't be thrown out. These gift bags are a wonderful alternative to share with aunts and grandmothers alike! Julia Hayes

I love those bags. Jenny, your blog article was so fun to read too. What was the name of that transparent thread again? hehehe. This is a good refresher for that upcoming Holiday season. I think I now have a few ideas for making my own Christmas gift bags!
