So, my office has a single plant in it: a rather lonely-looking pothos. Since my boss was neglecting it, I took over. I named him Harlowe Pothos (my nephew's middle name is Harlowe), cleaned all the dead stuff out of the pot, and put him on a pretty strict schedule: Tuesday he gets plain water, Friday plant food. (Any more than that he gets soggy, any less and he gets too dry.) After watering/feeding, I put him on the edge of the sink to drain and get some light. I talk to him every day, and sometimes sing to him.

Ordinarily, he lives in the corner of a pretty dim hallway. With my boss out of town, he's spent the past few weeks just outside of the locker room (much better lighting).

He's recovered from near-death, but his progress seems to have stopped. I'm worried that it's too cold for him (even with the heat on, the gym is freezing this time of year). Any ideas?

Alyce, I love that you named your plant! "Harlowe Pothos" is probably too cold. Pothos plants stop growing when temps are below about 55 degrees F. They typically have a slower growing dormant period during our cold, dark northern winters. Maybe move him to a warmer spot, or shine a clip-on light on him to provide a little more warmth? Hope that helps!

Cheers! ~ Marilyn

Hmm...well, I probably shouldn't put him in the sauna (although he'd probably love it!). I think I will move him to the aerobics room: it's well-lit, and the only room that's reliably warm.

I will not like having him so "out of the way," but it's better than having him freeze!

Maybe I should make him a sweater? Or am I over-thinking this...?

*edit* Or, I could move him into my office between the lamp and the space heater. I'm not really with it today. He seems cozy now!
