Are there any plans for the Farm Girls on the Loose getting together this year in 2012? Maybe some regional outings? Anxious to get out with the glamper this year and meet up with some of the sisters. I'm in WI, any ideas out there?

I was thinking about Wyalusing State Park. It is beautiful there! I am doing some research and will post about possible dates later.

Is there only one official Farmgirls on the Loose event or do people just advertise one in their area?

I live in Oregon and there's no way I could come to WI. But I think it would be neat to put names to some faces.

I don't think there are any "official" Farmgirls on the Loose events, but I could be wrong. I have been on the Laura Ingall's Wilder event and the Women of the Wild West event. Also went to an event in MN to meet Mary Jane and Meg!

Wyalusing State Park is about 4.5 hours drive for me. I'll have to talk to dh to see what he thinks. Is this a Farm Girl only outing or are husbands invited? (Mine would be at the nearest fishing hole all day. )

Perhaps I should practice towing my camper this spring.

Deb,
Usually farmgirls only, but it is always nice to have a man around for the heavy lifting! LOL...and to supply us with fresh fish. I am still thinking about a good time to plan this for and any input would be appreciated. I was thinking Spring, but was wondering about getting the garden in the ground, etc... Maybe late May or early June, but not on any holiday. What do you other farmgirls think?

I'm thinking early June, before it gets humid and the skeeters are hungry. We can connect the faces to the names...

Gramadinah--Glide is east of Roseburg which is about halfway between Eugene and Medford on I5. We are on Hwy 138 which goes up the North Umpqua River to Crater Lake.

Middle of July might be tough as it is the middle of horse camping! I know that I will be at Kelsay Valley Horse Camp (eastern end of Lemolo Lake) the third week as camp host. Email me or something when you know your schedule because you might be driving right past me!

Looks like Wyalusing State Park is about 4.25 hours from me. That's not too bad.

Mom and I are toying with the idea of a Farmgirls on the Loose event in our neck of the woods also. Wouldn't it be fun if gatherings sprouted up all over the country? So far, we're thinking we'll hold our "glamp-out" in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho the weekend of June 1 (May 31-June 3). We're going to set aside some campsites, cabins, and hotel rooms (for those not so big on tents or glampers) and then come up with a list of amazing options for what to do all weekend--everything from boat rides to horse rides to shopping to potlucks to fishing to tatting lessons. Plus, we have our store in CDA where sisters could stop by for round-the-clock free chocolate or something like that:) Anyway, with it snowing here non-stop today, we're enjoying thinking about glamping with our sisters next summer!

I've been calling some of our favorite campgrounds, etc. in Coeur d'Alene and it looks like those are going to be our dates for sure (May 31, June, 1, 2, and 3) because it fits into our B&B schedule that has already been set in stone and Mom agreed a month or so ago to be a keynote speaker for a gathering of professional women in the construction trade on Sunday evening at the Coeur d'Alene resort. It would be four full days of ya-ya sisterhood! Won't you join us? Details coming soon.

Hey Meg, if it was any other weekend other than the 1st weekend of June, (May 31-June3) Juli T. and I and about 2doz Sisters on the Fly will be Glamping on the Spokane River..that weekend.... the weekend of May 10-13 Juli & I will be over in Pendleton for the big Cattle Barons weekend. Then July 27th there is Girl Camp 1 on the Elk River,,,and then Girl camp 2 hosted by kpaints in Sept., not to mention mini "Trailer Slumber Parties" here & there.
I so wish I could Glamp with the YaYa Sisterhood in CDA, but I am the hostess for the Sisters on the Fly event here in Spokane & Juli is my side kick. bummer... but maybe Juli & I can talk some of the gals to take a 30 min drive over to CDA for a little shopping & gathering.
We loved having your mom Glamp with us (Sisters on the Fly) several years ago,,, She, Shelly & Juli always had the most fab-u-los food spread.
Happy Trails....

I am relatively new to the Farmgirl's but I love to camp and would love to meet some of the wonderful ladies I've been reading about. I'm in WI but can travel. I was just in MN for a B.O.W. Weekend and loved it. June 9 weekend is salmon fishing weekend in Port Washington. Anybody in that area of WI?

Katherine,
check out Sisters on the Fly as well as vintage trailer events... they are all over the USA, you should be able to meet up... There are also lot's of 'Glampers' here @ MJF... start a new thread to locate any WI gals. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
and Welcome too, to MJF!

Katherine,
I am planning a WI gathering for the spring. Just haven't decided on a date yet. Was thinking about Governor Dodge or Wyalusing State Parks. Prabably in the end of May or early June. I will make a separate post when I finish the plans. I sure hope you could make it! I am in Janesville, WI but Hubby and I are looking for a hobby farm in the Richland Center or Viroqua area. It is nice to see a few more WI farmgirls here, Welcome!

Hello everyone!
I am a brand spankin' new Farmgirl Sister, who got wind of this site through a post on my "home" Facebook page, The Loyal Order of the Glamper. The post talked about National Glamping Weekend, and I'm so excited to be joining some of the Wisconsin Glampers that have come to be among my dearest friends! I've got a 1966 Coachmen Middy named Chicklet because that's what she looks like. I'm doubly excited to hear that there are Minnesota campers here - my personal experience with Sisters on the Fly was that there were not many folks in Minnesota, and I'd have to drive quite a ways to meet up for SOTF outings. Chicklet and I (and my big goofy Sheltie) are all dying for a campfire meal, so count me in as far as Upper Midwest campouts go!
