You know, every now & then I reflect on my friendships with very special ladies here on the MJF forum....
That being said, I was rummaging through some containers of stuff I have been collecting for my 3rd little trailer "FarmGirl on the Loose".... when I came across a sweet cheery oversized lap quilt,,,,it brought tears to my eyes as I thought of the lovely lady who was our "Swap Mama" for that particular quilt block swap,,,, Claire Adams...
In fact she was the swapmama for 4 other quilt block swaps that I participated in...
Claire was a beautiful soul.... she was struggling with cancer and found refuge & joy in the MJF forum and the quilt swaps. Even when she was her most sick,,, she took on the swap to keep her busy and her mind off her battle with cancer. Sadly in 2008, she lost her courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a husband and young son... but now resides in that big 'Quilt Room in the Sky'.
I will be using this bright Spring quilt as a wall hanging in my little FarmGirl themed trailer,,,
Thank you Claire, and I truly do miss you.

Oh Grace- I miss her too. She was such a sweet lady and she had a great sense of humor. I spoke to some churches in her area when she passed away and everyone knew her and loved her. She was one of those bright spirits that makes the world a better place!

Grace,
What a nice post and memory. I did not know Claire, but she sounds like the epitome of a farmgirl. Thanks for sharing your special memory.

Grace,
Thanks for posting this and bringing her to mind. She was a sweet, sweet soul.
I have also been thinking about Linda Geren (a rose) recently. She too lost her battle but has gone on to a far better place. Maybe they are rejoicing together.
What a beautiful reminder you have of a wonderful friendship.
hugs,

O, a trouble's a ton or a trouble's an ounce,
Or a trouble is what you make it!
And it isn't the fact that you're hurt that counts,
But only--how did you take it?

Oh Alanna,,, sending you hugz of love & strength...

SO true, cancer in any form is a horrible thing,,, but we have the ability to support firends, sisters, mothers & daughters who have it.
I so admire the woman who through all her pain doesn't let this desease get the best of her,,, that she takes life and all it gives her,,, and makes memories for those around her when she knows she may only have a limited time to do so.
Let us all be supporters of one another both in illness & good health.

Grace, I didn't know her, but I have heard very good things about her. You wrote such a good tribute to her.
Alanna, big farmgirl (((HUGS))) to you during this time. Cancer affects too many people, and I have so much respect for the doctors who work everyday to try and fight the disease. My grandfather had cancer a few years ago, and he survived. I thank God for the wonderful doctors who took such care of him.
God's and Farmgirl's Blessings,
Megan

Grace, It sounds like Claire left a legacy of warmth and caring. Your memories are a beautiful tribute to her. I agree that particpating in swaps is good medicine...connecting with other farmgirls and being creative is good for the soul.

Warmly,
