That sound fun Amy. I think, during the school year, I may try "Punch Bowl Friday" again. Like most typical families, the punch bowl isn't used that much. We used to make a fruity punch every Friday, when the kids got home. Kind of a celebration for getting through a week of public school (lots of drama, headaches, complaining, and loooong days). So....today I am going to try it again.
That is a fabulous idea to do a Punch Bowl Friday! I totally agree the punch bowl isn't used much anymore and I got a beautiful old vintage looking punch bowl with all the matching cups and have been looking for an excuse to use it. Great idea!

Great idea. I am planning to have a fancy Valentine's tea with my daughter. Since we school at home, I am going to make cucumber sandwiches and the like and make tea, punch, etc and we will have a fancy lunch.
One time, when the girls were younger, I had us all dress up, where gloves and hats, and made shortbread cookies and made tea. I used my mother's glassware. We still talk about it. How fun for you to have a "tea" with your kids.
I love these ideas and just remembered that I actually have a punch bowl, not to mention an old tea set from my aunt that I've been trying to find a use (or occasion) for!
I'm with Heather on Seltzer and fruit juice idea. I cut sugar out of my kids diet since the last birthday party in August and I never realized how much sugar affected my kids until they had some the other day. My goodness they didn't go to sleep until after 10! Not to mention they were extremely whiny and were just very out of their normal character. I guess having a normal punch wouldn't hurt but if we do it every week it might not be a bad idea to do the fruit juice and seltzer. Oh and I decided to dedicate Friday or Saturday to pizza. Something pizza related is what we will have for dinner from now on. I'm thinking that I will do it Saturday nights but I will decide for sure in the next week or two :) Thanks for the fabulous idea to have a weekly tradition!

The first one we made used cranberry juice, apple juice and a ginger ale. I plan on doing more research for more ideas. I would love to hear any of yours too.
1 12-ounce can frozen cranberry-juice cocktail concentrate 1 12-ounce can frozen raspberry-cranberry-juice cocktail concentrate 1 12-ounce can frozen apple-juice concentrate 1 12-ounce can frozen lemonade concentrate 1 liter bottle chilled ginger ale 2 liter bottles chilled club soda (will need 1/2 bottle more maybe) 2 cups cold water Preparation
Combine frozen concentrates in a punch bowl. (A large soup tureen makes a good substitute.) Thaw, mix well and refrigerate until needed. At serving time, add ginger ale, club soda, and water. Serve with plenty of ice.

I got to thinking (dangerous in this house)... I can use the punch bowl for a dry snack mix. Like popcorn or a mix of other healthy items. I may just do that one Friday and confuse the kids - ha ha ha!
