I made this handbag for one of my girlfriends from wool tweed for Christmas. I should have taken photos of the interior but it has already been delivered to its new owner. It has a silver-gray satin lining. I love beautiful linings in handbags. It is trimmed with a vintage celluloid button from Melody's Etsy shop!
Next I'm going to work on a handbag design based on a suggestion from one of our FarmGirls.

Paula love your handbag...would you mind sharing the pattern with me. Love making handbags... or where did you get the pattern?

That handbag is beautiful. You are one incredible sewer! It looks like it was made by a professional tailor. I'm sure your friend loved it. I know I do!

Thank you for the nice comments! I used a pattern from Charlies Aunt. It is called the Kitchen Garden Bag.
http://www.etsy.com/shop/charliesaunt?ref=seller_info

It is not a beginner level sewing pattern at all. I've noticed that a lot of her patterns start out looking easy, but there are some tricky parts where instructions are not always clear or pattern pieces don't match up all of the way. I guess that goes for a lot of patterns out there. I tend to change things up to suit me, and it all works out pretty well. I think I'm ready to start designing my own now though. She has published new rules that you cannot make any of her bags to sell, so that was a good little kick for me to put it in gear and come up with my own designs. I think it will be more gratifying anyway to say that it is a Straw House Designs "Original"!

Hi Beverly, I just joined the FarmGirls this Spring, so I wasn't "around" last year. I'll bet the handbag from India was beautiful. I love their vibrant colors.

Paula, both of them were made of vibrant colors one a paisley silk, I forget the other....but they were like the kind you tuck under your arm....b ut then half that again....hard to explain....but a design I had to share with purse makers here.
