Ok, one of my goals this year is to make a braided rug or two. What is the best fabric to use? What re-purposed fabric too? not sure how to go about this yet? Any ideas and suggestions? Thanks

I am saving old bed sheets and pillow cases. I cut them in strips, and sew them together. I then roll in a rag ball, and put in a basket until I have enough to make the rug. Some women buy material. You can also buy clothes, bedding etc. at thrift stores to use.

My Aunt used to buy old wool coats at the thrift, wash them, then cut her fabric out from the usable portion. Cheap source of wool.

Well, I don't know why my post was deleted, but I hope you have fun making your rug.

Thanks ladies. Sounds like whatever I can get my hands on will work. We have lots of yard sales here bet I could get some cheap things.

I'm saving my old flannel sheets to make a couple of rugs - on my to do list for this winter. My floors are very cold and they sure would feel good under my feet first thing in the morning.
I'm going to try braiding and crocheting. Will let you know how it turns out if I get to it this winter.

Great, Kathy I can't wait to see what you come up with. I am hoping this winter I can come up with one too. If you have any suggestions let me know.
