I can't link to the story, but, I've seen it in several places. If you use a net pot, use only distilled water, never tap water. Always make sure the pot is very clean befor using. An brain eating ameaba has been linked to same. The users used tap water and two died.

... And by extension, be aware of standing water as well as plumbing water supplied by such. There were several deaths attributed to the same type of amoeba from swimming in lakes and ponds this summer too.

It's not the neti pot, it's the water!

Yes, I read that too! I think the article I read said less than 32 deaths in the past 10 years. Still- something to be aware of. And if you have recently been swimming and start feeling yucky- go to the doctor!

there was an interview on our local news today about this. It is the water, the Dr said they are safe to use, but should use distilled water. I guess I learned something because I always use tap water.

Heard about this last wek...and how timely, since I caught somebody's cold.

Will keep distilled water on hand now and for the short term will just rely on medication and breathe right strips. . Day 2 and so far I'm feeling ok.
