Long story short, I bought some very special hand spun, hand dyed yarn for a Christmas gift scarf for my grandma. I'm just about to the end of the yarn and the scarf isn't going to be nearly long enough. )I don't know why its taking so much yarn this time...I'm doing a basketweave for the first time and maybe that's it? I think I'd cry if I have to tear it out. :( Is there any way that I can turn this "Scarf" into something else? My mom suggested just putting a couple buttons on it and turning it into a cowl type thing. The scarf right now is 7 inches wide and 15 inches long. I imagine it will be close to 20 inches by the time I'm out of yarn. Any suggestions, ladies?

I have made two basket weave scarfs and they do take a lot of yarn. I think what your Mom suggested sounds good or either just make it big enough to go over her head and join the ends as a cowl....I am sorry that you are having to go through this...is there anyway you can get more of that yarn, or something similar and add to both ends...something that would go with the original? good luck

Here are a couple of the button ideas - I especially like the first one-was going to make something like that for my self as I don't always want all the long scarf to tuck into my coathttp://pinterest.com/pin/534592157/ or http://pinterest.com/pin/544259008/ with just the right button, would be very cool.
