Anyone else become pregnant at this age? Considering it?
We are and I'm wondering if we're nuts? We both met late in life and he doesn't have any children, but I have 3 grown (and all living far away) children. He is ok with having, or not having, a child. I would like to share this experience with him and give him a child, but WOW...do I really want to go back to all of that?

Both of my Grandmothers had babies at 45! I have a girlfriend that had two children in her 40's. With all of todays medical technology everything should be just fine. Good luck!

I see several mom's in their 40's starting a family, but the thought of a teenager in my late 50's makes me tired!
....it's what's inside a women, when she's up against the land.

I had my youngest son when I was 43. The pregnancy and delivery went perfectly for me. Better than it did when I was 21 and 25 when I had my other two sons. My youngest son is with my second husband. My husband didn't have any kids and while we hadn't planned on our surprise blessing, it really brought us closer together. The five of us (including my older two sons)have really become closer as a family too.
I found that I real enjoyed every precious moment of my youngest son's baby time. I'll admit potty training wasn't fun to do again and dealing with school too hasn't been much fun either. But, I wouldn't trade him for anything. I know how quickly time flies by when the kids are little, so I've savored every moment I can.
Talk to your doctor and make sure your body is ready for this and then decide.

I turned 45 a few months before my son came. It was exhausting and though DH and I are happy to have him, we won't be having another. The birth was pretty tough. In a way I was never ready before this for kids, so the timing was right for both of us, he's older than I. Your body can still handle it, but just be aware that you might be more tired (or not) than the 20 year olds. That was my only pregnancy "symptom" so overall it went well, just frustrating as I couldn't do much.
The logical side of my brain is screaming at me "What were you thinking" as all the things like school and Halloween were never in my attention, but quickly are becoming so.
What ever you decide, decide for the two of you.

| I'm in my early 40s and will be about 45 when we finally get our daughter (we're adopting from China). I think having children later in life helps keep you young. :) I know my two young boys keep me active! |

I agree Jennifer, my parents are in their 50's youngest DD is 9! lol haha
My grandmother had her last at 45. There's 25 years between her oldest and youngest, same with some of my great grandmothers. I'm cool with it. If you feel you have the health and stamina for it, I say go for it!

THANK YOU for all your honest input. Hubby and I had a big discussion about this, and well...we decided not to pursue having a child. For us, the cons outweighed the pros...but there will always be a part of me that wishes we did have a child. I have alot of lower back/hip pain and I really am not sure I could carry again without tons of pain, and being pregnant there is NO WAY I would take pain pills. All of my babies were over 8 pounds, so I'm just thinking it would be too much of strain on my body.
