I receive email from you with no message and a link. I think it's happened three times.

Hi Linda,

Change your email password right away. Save your contact list somewhere else, if possible. If not, then delete everyone from your contact list. The virus is using that to send out emails. Changing your password might stop it. Just make sure you close your browser completely after you change your password so nothing is cached in memory that the virus can use.

I've received several e-mails too - after the first one I didn't try to open them for fear of getting a virus of some sort.

Thanks,
Luanne

My bank put a notice on their site that a phishing scam was going on. They don't send out emails, period. Sure enuf, later that day, I got 2 emails from "the bank". I didn't delete them but sent them to my spam folder, where it deletes automatically. Then I got an email saying I was required to respond. Delete! My email also warned me that someone was trying to hack. Changed my email password and so far, so good.

Whatever you do, don't open them. Change your email password if you receive an email from Linda, just to be safe, or consider it a good time to go ahead and do it anyway. Linda, it isn't your fault. I had a similar thing happen to me. It is very embarrassing, but not a reflection on you personally. It is just a sign of the times.

Actually, if you picked up a key logger in a file or a "script" (thats like a mini file your internet browser runs automatically) changing your email alone won't help. You need to get an anti-malware program and a good antivirus. You have to run scans with BOTH because they both find different things and work differently.
I recommend:
http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html and
http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition-2012/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?tag=mncol;1
Both are excellent products, are frequently updated to protect you against new threats, and safe downloads. Best Buy techs charge 75$ to run those two programs on your machine for you; not macafee, not norton.

OH no it has nothing to do with Linda personally, I think we ALL know that
These things seem to happen once in a while. Indeed, run a complete extra scan.... and an anti malware program

I don't use a desktop or laptop. I just use my android by at &t.
I will get to a desktop to delete all contacts or addresses I have on aol.
A friend of mine said my facebook account was hacked. I can change that password and also email address that is used there.
Perhaps I will go to the at&t store to have them do what they can.

So sorry about the problems....I am working on it.

I'm careful and usually only go to the same 10 or so sites for a period of months and I still clean up things when I don't run a scan for a while. It doesn't matter how tech savvy you are (or aren't) everyone should still scan their computer periodically.

Computers used by children and teens need it done no less than every other week. (Thanks to that frontal lobe with all the judgement and reasoning centers not "growed in" yet. )
