Hi Farmgirl sisters... I am a fairly new crocheter and want to make some dish scurbbies. The problem I am having is that I dont know where to get the, for lack of a better word "scratchy" material to make the scrubbies with. I have never seen it in any yarn store, so I am perplexed! I figured I can google for a pattern/instructions (or if any of you have an easy pattern that would be great, but I am at a loss for where to get the material to give it a try. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance,

They are made from nylon net that you get at the fabric store. Kathy |

Laurie, I bought my nylon netting at hobby lobby and it was on sale at the time for .77 cents a yard...I got 2 yards for each one...I hope to get one made for my friend for Christmas.

I get my netting for cheap at Walmart and cut it into strips. Sometimes I can find things at the thrift to re-purpose.

Thank you ladies for the help! Does anyone have a crochet pattern for the scrubbies? Kris- I bet you can use the bags from apples and onions too- I think I've read that, I just didnt have a clue about where to "buy" that specific textured "fabric". I am trying to make all of my Christmas gifts this year. Last year I made lots of scarves for people and they really liked them. This year I have done alot of canning and am trying to do "kitchen" baskets with canned goods, crocheted dish cloths (and hopefully scrubbies) and some recipe cards etc encolsed. Wish me luck!

Hey Laurie! I was thinking about your gift baskets this morning... what if you made potholders? I have the weaving loom ones from my kids, but I am sure there must be crochet patterns. Maybe if you use 2 strands of cotton at a time? I just made dishcloth using the 2 strands and it is soooo super thick! I prefer the cotton ones anyway.. not just because the kids made them!! They just feel better!
How is your week looking? Can we squeeze in a day for tea?? Let me know!!

Thanks for the pot holder suggestion Teresa! Hmmmm now I dont know which direction to head, or where to find the time to do it! Lol I wish I were an avid seamstress- because I would make aprons for all to include in my baskets....Someday! Tea time may be difficult this week- I will touch base with you! Smiles,
