I sent this earlier today, I don't know what happened to it so I'll ask again. Do any of you sisters out there get silly Christmas catalogs with poor quality merchandise that is a waste of money. I have recieved 17 catalogs in the last week. I asked the mailman to return them, but he said that he couldn't due to postage requirements. I have called some companies in the past and asked to be removed from their mailing lists so now they come occupant! I want to go green! I guess I could always build an out house and recycle them It is awful cold in Iowa in the winter so maybe better think of something else to do with them |

Hey Thelma, I have a couple of websites like this one http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/magazine_bowls that show how to make these magazine bowls. I am hoping to make some after the holidays. I saw them once advertised in a high end store for over $100. for 3 bowl (different sizes)...maybe you can make one or two...lol

I just looked through 4 magazines we got today. Nothing I would want and nothing I signed up for. The bowls penny saw look quite intriguing though. I may just have to make a dozen bowls by Christmas time.

What you could do, Thelma, is donate them to a daycare or preschool so the kids can cut out. Kids love to cut! Just an idea :).

Finally something to use all the magazines. Also, you can make beads from the magazine pages. Happy scraping!

you could donate to a nursing home... the residents like window shopping with magazines.

I went to that site Penny where you can use the magazine to make a bowl. Thanks, that is a good idea. I am going to try it.

Some of these magazines will not take no for an answer! I called a magazine company 6 separate times within an 8 month period and they still send me the catalogs that I never requested. Ugh!

| Wow! Thanks everyone! Penny, I am going to make a few bowels after the holidays! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! What a fun way to recycle. Better than my out house idea. LOL I used to teach and it was amazing how many useable items parents and co workers would donate. I take my old magazines to the medical center. Ever notice how old some waiting room magazines are? I would never get rid of my Mary Jane or quilting magazines though. Keep these good recycling ideas coming. |
