Is anyone else dealing with pollen allergies right now? I've had a miserable night and day... even when I took my OTC meds. That has helped with the watery eyes and constant sneezing, but I still have the stuffy nose deal and plus it's exhausting. Other than this, I LOVE spring time! We had snow yesterday, mixed with rain, so the poor trees aren't going to know which season they are in. How do you cope with this?

We had snow mixed with rain this morning...but sunshine this afternoon...
I never had any allergies until moving here to Utah...I don't know if it is the different climate or different plants or what. It still isn't as bad as most people with allergies. It is exhausting though..you are right. I havn't found a natural way to deal with it yet and when it is bad I resort to benedryl which puts me to sleep...would love suggestions!

Hi guys, from Florida, where the oak pollen is so plentiful that I can sweep little clouds of it off the porch, and the cars are yellow with dust. I wiped my outdoor table yesterday and the rag was bright yellow when I finished.
So naturally, I have been sneezing and have itchy eyes. Tylenol Sinus will help me without making me feel drugged. I only take one at a time. And I try to wash my eyes with cool water when I shower and once a day otherwise. I sleep propped on pillows so that my head stays elevated. That helps, too.
When I lived in the mid-west I had allergies, too, which went away when I moved to Florida until I succumbed to a whole new set of allergens!
Wipe down your furniture, etc. with a slightly damp cloth, and use a damp mop on your floors so as not to stir things up too much in your houses. And, alas, I sleep with the windows closed - the damp air makes me worse. But spring is here!!!! That is the upside!

We are fast approaching the onslaught of maple pollen season and I definitely hear you Clare, Jenny and Jeannie! Red "dust" everywhere and nowhere to hide! We all had RX for allergies but as the plan has changed they weren't covered or too expensive (40.)) lowest copay!) so we opted for some home remedies that have been pretty effective so far. Has anyone used a Neti pot? That has reduced the amount of sinus infections from allergies greatly around here, kind of odd but it works! Feverfew capsules help sometimes and when all else fails a very basic antihistimine or Claritn D if we need the "big guns"
I am dreading most of all the Ash tree, I am literally blind for about a week when they are out.

It's nice to know that I am in such "good company" during my misery! Bramble and Jeannie, I know what a "Neti pot?" is, although I don't have one. I have been just rinsing my nose and eyes with saline to ward off cold/flu viruses and am continuing it now. It does help to keep the sinus area clean as possible. Fresh water is great too and I've been sleeping propped up. I've been using the 24 hour pill Alavert and it works pretty good on all my symptoms but the stuffy nose. Today I've even felt feverish, as I think all of my body's systems are on high-alert. I'm supplementing with some Emer'gen-C packets and advil, which seem to help calm things down. I haven't tried feverfew yet, but that's a good idea too. Maybe I should just head to the Artic while this phase passes, but I would miss so many beautiful things happening in the yard... Thanks for the encouragement girls!!

I used to use feverfew for headaches....will have to try that..couldn't hurt.

I have been battling a nasty allergy for over a month and now it seems to have gotten my system down enough where I feel a cold or flu coming on...I found a new product yesterday at the Wal-Mart pharmacy section called "Airborn". Invented by a schoolteacher sick of catching colds! Says for use in airplanes, hospitals,offices, carpools, theatres, everywhere where public is gathered and air can be stale. 17 herbs and vitamans in an effervescant formula(think alka seltzer tab). Drop it in 8oz. of water, let fiz, and drink up 3x a day at most. Tastes good like a fizzy orange lemon taste. Kids can take 1/2 tablet. I tried this am will let you all know if results are good.

Meadowlark, I have taken Airborne for about two years now when I feel a cold coming on, especially if I am travelling with a cold. I find it soothes me to drink it because it is so refreshing and good, and I know the vitamins are good for the body, too. My colds still last the same length of time, but I think I feel better overall for taking it.

I thought I was fighting allergies this week, but I came home at 1:00 today because I couln't stand it any longer and plus I felt feverish. I'm doing Alka-Seltzer cold. I have heard great things about the Airbourn and I have some Emerg'n'c here I think.......

Hi. I get terrible "hayfever" this time of year. I use a homeopathic treatment by bioAllers(pollen/hayfever).It has worked wonderfully.When my eyes get really itchy-scratch your eyes out itchy I use a prescription eye drop called Zaditor. We got a real heavy wet snow and that has helped. I live where it usually snows a couple of times in the summer so I get a small break from my allergies.
