Ok all you southern belles, I am looking for a genuine southern pecan pie recipe. My dad loves them. My psycho ex-sister in law made them all the time for my dad when she was married to my brother. She was from Tenn. So, if I could get one, I would greatly appreciate it. Even if you leave out your top secret ingredient, but the pie comes out good anyway without it, that would be fine too.
Thanx a bunch Your downeast sister,
Lorie |

I'm not from the South, but my favorite recipe came from the back of the Karo syrup bottle. Pecan Pie is my favorite pie!

I'm from Georgia and this is the real thing:
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter 1 cup sugar 1 cup light corn syrup 4 eggs, beaten 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 unbaked pie crust 1 to 1 1/4 cups pecans
Combine butter, sugar and corn syrup and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves. Let it cool slightly. Add eggs, vanilla and salt and mix well.
Pour filling into unbaked pie shell and top with pecans. Bake at 325 degrees for 50-55 minutes.
Enjoy !!! |

I am I'm Texas and I agree with Kim about the recipe on the back of the Karo syrup bottle. I am not at home right now but if my recipe card has any tweaks to that recipe I will let you know.
