I wanted to pack in to Thielsen Creek this past weekend with a friend. She doesn't do horses so I offered to pack in all the stuff and she could hike to the camp. She does a lot of hiking. She thought that was a great idea. We have tried all summer to no avail. I thought this past weekend would finally work but she had a bunch of activities so I decided to go by myself. Well, it rained so I stayed home.

BUT-----

Saturday night I slept down at the barn in the horse trailer!! The next morning I told my husband that I was pretending I was camping. He said he wished he had known because he would have built a campfire to sit around--in the barn parking lot. Hee, hee.

So I slept in the trailer for three nights altogether and listened to the rain on the roof. It wasn't quite the same, but a lot drier!!!!

Do any of you pseudo-camp?

The trail is the thing.... Louis L'Amour

Yup . . . in the yard. Set up the tent, put in the sleeping bag, etc. Nope, not quite the same, but sometimes a girl's gotta do what girl's gotta do.

We enjoy the daytime activities then sleep in our own beds. We hike our little valley, eat picnic style food on the back deck, roast hot dogs and make smores over a campfire, and drink lots of coffee from our campfire coffee pot. It's a fun way to spend the day, then we carry the sleeping 2y/o to her own bed and sleep in our own bed. Camping fun with at home simplicity!

We've been having campfires now that the pool has been taken down and put away. Can't camp out here. We've had a series of crimes happening in our area and I just don't feel safe sleeping outside.

Camper is at the shop getting winterized. I hope we can head out at least 1 more time before winter hits.

For our son's birthday party last month we made a campfire and put bales of hay around it for everyone to sit on. We have left the fire pit there since then to enjoy at night by ourselves! I'm hoping to start pseudo-camping in our yard more often.

I keep wanting to camp and my husband keeps saying that's a good idea, but we don't ever go. I think he is just agreeing to keep me happy. I think Pseudo-camping might just be the answer. We do enjoy sitting around a fire in our backyard making coffee on our campstove. Now all I need to do is pop up the tent. He couldn't talk his way out of that one.

Go for it, Cathy! It's too cold and wintery now for us to do that, even in the yard. However, I do have my firepit on the deck and a stack of wood. I intend to build a fire in it occasionally this winter, to sit out during the day and enjoy.
In fact, we did just that last week on Wednesday . . enjoyable!

Sometimes I sleep out in the camper. It's next to the chicken coop and there's electricity in there, so I plug in my heater and dvd player and relax. One time, I slept out there 4 nights in a row...it's so peaceful!....and on the 5th night, my husband came out and very quietly asked if I had moved out. Dang! Grabbed my stuff and my camping adventure was over.

Grace, we had snow and ice last year on Thanksgiving! That's big for us. And big snow in February. I had brought my niece and nephew up to visit during their midwinter break and was going to take them up Hwy 20 into the mountains to play in the snow. The day after I brought them up, we had that big snow and we sledded down a hill next to our Home Depot! Fun! My nephew, on his own, dug out places for the chickens to walk around in their pen and out the door.

Dang it! I knew I moved to the wrong side of the state! lol!
Woke up to a good blanket of snow/frost on the ground this a.m., & a thick blanket of fog....but oh well, that's life in the Pacific/Inland N.W.!
Tonight kpaints & I are hitting the trail to head over to Spokane Valley for dinner with our
'Sisters on the Fly' ~ E.WA & ID. Panhandle group.... so I am glad there is no snow right now.
We did get a snow on Thanksgiving day, but nothing much more since then.
But Winter isn't over yet! lol!
Have a wonderful weekend.

Have had a bit of snow but really want more of it for Christmas!
EXCEPT, I don't want it to create problems for my daughter to travel up on the 26th!

We have done that with tents. During the summer we borrow a pop-up camper to camp with sometimes. I looooove to hear the pitter patter of rain. It reminds of of when my parents took us camping and it rained. We stayed in the camper and played games.
