There was just one more item we needed for the house, but, when we looked, couldn't find anything in our price range. We found dining room table and chairs at our usual haunts but they were too pricey for us. So, we figgered that something would fall in our lap.
We had to put our truck in the shop day before yesterday, and sort of meandered around town for a while. This town is where our company is located, not where we live, so, we didn't quite know what to do with ourselves.
I had the bright idea to ferret out some thrift stores and swaps. The swaps were a bust, mainly junk. Then, right down the highway...I spied a HfH store. I'd never been in one but knew someone who used them for her house.
We stopped in and perused the inventory. Then, an antique table, heavy as blue blazes called out to us, and after perusing some more, the table ended up in the bed of our pickup. The best part was it was 25% off, after 31 days there!!
Anywho, long story short, the dining room table looks fab in our dinging area.
If you have a HfH close by, check them out. Goodwill has gotten too expensive and our usual store has decided they needed to up their prices too. HfH does some good work, I hear. I think that wacky ex Prez Carter is affiliated with them but I won't hold it against them!!
If all else fails, give this place alook!

I will have to look there sometime. I think I've seen their sign. Or at least I think so, on Hwy 97.

Yes President Carter & his wife have been involved with this organization since he left office....Some never make good presidents but he & his wife have done wonderful things for others thur this organization....I think thats the reason it has been so successful as he & his wife are always involved...they are out there building along side everyone else not in the back ground...I have to admit I admire him greatly for this.....He was a peanut farmer & has shown that even now he is still a hard worker...like I said maybe not the greatest president but a great human being....Michele'

Yep, we have a HfH over in Spokane Valley... I go there every now & then,,,mostly to buy tiles for my mosaic pottery.... I happend to come across a beautiful vintage dresser (dove-tail work)and it was $225, a bit high so I sighed and moved on. I had to come back 2 weeks later (in search of a lamp that I could transform into a mini chandilier for my trailer) and saw that the dresser was still there.. but had been reduced to $150,,, tempted but just a bit penny tight on that particulare day, I asked if that was the least they would take for it, she asked the Boss/manager & he said $100... I COULD NOT GET MY CHECK BOOK OUT FAST ENOUGH! Hubby & I brought it home, cleaned it up, gave it a good oiling & voila! It now is in our bedroom.... If you have a HfH in your area...check it out, it's a perfect place to find, recycled, and even new items that have been donated... I pureuse it for items to use/rebuild in my lil vintage trailers... like new flooring tiles at 1/2 the cost at Home Depot/Lowes...
