So for the past 3 years I have been looking for the 100 percent cotton jeans that Levi used to make. I hate all of the Levi jeans with the spandex now added in them. Oh where , Oh where did the !00 percent cotton 550 Levi jeans go too? Called the Levi company last year and they said they might bring them back this year. So far Notta!! Yum so frustrated I have to wear my old holey Levi jeans again this winter!!! Might be getting older but I WANT my Old jeans back again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Boo Hoo....

I think with cotton prices on the rise, there is going to be VERY limited 100% cotton jeans and even less quality denim. I was very disappointed this year in the selection for my husband--a few years ago, at Kohls, I found this brand, Tony Hawk (he's a skateboarder) and the jeans were just really simple in style, but the denim was SO heavy and good quality 100% cotton (and they were cheaper than any of the other jeans) and they fit wonderfully. I bought 2 pair, then turned around and bought 2 more after washing them up. I went back to see about getting a couple of pair this year and they're totally disgusting--thin denim, tons of additives to the fabric--even the grommets are made of less quality.
As a retailer, my mom was told to expect less quality this year in cotton garments b/c of the increase in cotton prices--unless someone actually wants to pay $38.00 for a simple tee shirt, you can expect garbage. That's a bummer!!!!!

Did you ladies know the Levi Strauss Co. moved its production to Mexico??

Must have happened about 3 or 4 years ago.

The last of an American Icon...........GONE!

Might also help explain why the materials feel thinner and have the filler spandex.

Levi used to be my go-to brand. Sadly, I hate to admit paying 50- almost 60.00 for jeans at Eddie Bauer......but they FIT!

I still have 4 pair of the Levis ratholed. Because like all good things, they will probably disappear too

Try the thrift stores, the pants you are talking about are "out of style", so many people will not be seen in them, so they will donate them to thrift stores, and they can be had for a song and dance ($2 - $5 dollars in my area)

I have a few pairs of Levi's that say Brazil in the tag, so I knew the production had moved south of the Border. I just think it's the way of the world--I like LL Bean jeans, too, but they too are made in other countries. These American companies, always looking at the bottom line...

I go to thrift stores also. My last pair of good Levi's brand new were from Tractor Supply. Now it's thrift stores and the most I've had to pay is $3 a pair. I was in shock when I went to the outlet mall and the Levi's there were $40! I must be living in a cave.

Yea, thrift stores used to be my go-to. The one around here receives donations from somewhere. The label says Levi, but the cuts are too high and leg openings too smal.

I'm a 550 or 501 kind of gal, mens fit. And that's even harder to find in Thrift stores unless you want rips all over and the outline of snuff cans in back pockets.

The addage is true, Levis don't die, they just fade away ---or worn to shreds 'till there's nothing left!
