Let me bounce this off y'all....if you have a good friend whom you call and ask for help at a charitable event you chair and they don't refuse your request, but rather turn it into some kind of running joke via texting in, perhaps, a way to avoid having to say no...is that a reason to feel slighted? I feel silly that this has been bother me so much, but is it too much to expect a straight answer from a friend?

I would say that they're not interested and I would ignore it and move on to the next person.
Or maybe they really didn't think that you were serious.

I too would just move on. The person may have some strange issue with that particular charity that keeps them from participating and telling you about. For instance I have a personal issue with anything to do with the United Way and would not lift a finger to help them but I will work all day for any one else.

Thoughts are things choose the good ones.

I agree that I'd move on. If they are a true friend they should feel like they could tell you no and why. If everyone was alike, what a bore. But true friends except the others thoughts and feelings as ok. If she is a dear friend to you maybe just ask if it is a charity that she'd be willing to help with or not. If she feels the friendship is the same as you do, she should feel comfortable to discuss it. And not just blow you off. Theres many others that would love to help you out. Hugs,Brenda

Thanks to those of you that waded in. I have moved on. This is a supposed good friend whom I am happy to lend tools and time to, all they need to do is ask. It's just not reciprocated, and I need to accept that.
