Help! My cleaning ladies left my finished wood floors sticky! What can I use on them that won't hurt the finish or the wood itself?

It depends on what was sticky. Maybe just vinegar? OR vinegar/water? or some diluted dish soap in water?

Do you have a steam mop? That's the best and won't hurt the wood. Or try Murphy's oil soap and water and ring out the mop real good - use as little as possible of water on hardwood.

Ended up using 1/2 c. ammonia in 1 gallon of hot water. Using a well rung out microfiber cloth on my hands and knees.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

Glad you got it fixed! I hope you told them not to use that ever again!

What an ugly surprise that must have been! Maybe the stickiness was from old products dissolving into the cleaning ladies' harsh products, which they didn't then clean up with something -- even water would have helped.

Going forward, I'm another vote for steam mopping. I have one of those cheapie Shark ones (about $75) and it really is fabulous on any kind of floor, plus, of course, completely nontoxic because it's only water.
