I'd like to say hello to all again after an extended period away from MJF. So much has gone on in my life in the past yr. plus. I lost my mom on Valentine's day 2011 after an extended battle with ovarian cancer. She fought the good fight but my family was so relieved for her when her battle was done and she went home to Heaven. I spent much of the fall and winter in Iowa at her side. I made a promise to her that I'd be there when it was time and so I was. I spent 32 yrs working as an LPN in the field of geriatrics. I couldn't have lived with myself if I'd not been at my own mother's side when her time came. I'm so thankful I was able to do that for her. My dad recovered fully from a heart attack he suffered in Sept. of 2010. Once again God made sure I was there and helped me to be the rock my family needed during that additional scare. My husband's diagnosis of prostate cancer in November left us a bit overwhelmed and took awhile for him to decide on a treatment therapy but he'll start a series of 48 radiation treatments this month. He's chosen not to have invasive surgery and with prayer I will support that decision. Thankfully he's had time to make this decision as prostate cancer is a slow growing kind. I've missed having time to just kick back with a coffee and read all the wonderful posts and learn so much with all the ladies of MJF and I'm glad I could do so today. Have a wonderful holiday weekend and I hope this little note finds all of you safe and loved. :)

Welcome back Cheryl and nice to meet you. I'm sorry for the loss of your mother. You are very lucky to have had the time you did to be there for her and for your dad.

Cheryl- A warm welcome back to the site- glad you were able to stop in and enjoy for a bit. I am very sorry to hear of the loss of you mom. 2010 was a rough year for me as well having lost my grandpa and my dad within 4 months of each other. I understand where you are coming from. Its wonderful that you were able to be there with your mom. Sometimes even though you are going through something "terrible" you can still share some wonderful memories with your loved one. Blessings to you!

Thank you so much Laurie. I'm very sorry for your losses also. It seems when it rains it pours. Thank goodness we're able to find blessings even in sad times. I think that is what makes us mere mortals unique :)

Thank you so much Penny! I'm so happy to be back and able to enjoy MJF and all the ladies here again. I so missed reading all of the posts and seeing what everyone was up to. It's a joy being able to sit and read/participate again.

Cheryl,

What a time you've been through. May the Lord bring you His peace and joy. How wonderful that you had training to help those you love. Welcome back.

Cheryl,
Welcome back! I'm glad you were able to be there. I know how it is as my mother fought a long hard battle with a type of leukemia. She's been gone 17 1/2 years but I was able to be with her during her battle.
God Bless You!

Thank you so much Kim and CJ. Some days I miss her so much and others I'm at peace with everything that has happened. I know time heals and everyday gets a bit better. I think I posted this in the wrong spot. Just goes to show I've been gone too long LOL I'm rusty around the edges but getting back in the groove :)
