I started needle felting (finally) about a week ago! I'm making play food for my kids (it will be a Christmas gift). Its so much fun. I usually don't like crafts that don't have specific instructions but this has worked for me for some reason. The only thing I haven't figured out is getting the sizes right so that they are a similar scale, but really I'm not too worried about it either. One of my needles is already getting dull so I may have to research different brands and see if there is a way to make them last longer. Another thing I want to figure out is how to organize my roving so that it doesn't all stick together and mix up the colors...I'm thinking muslin bags (because I have a bolt of muslin I should do something with...) any ideas??

I'm going to have to go to the store this week and get some more roving in different colors. I just found out we have two specialty fiber stores here (it only took me nearly three years to figure that out!), I bought all my stuff at one and want to go this week to check out the other!

So far I've made a tomato, a bell pepper, a tiny green gourd, a jalapeno and a strawberry (but this still needs black spots) and a couple leaves that still need veins. :)

Hi Sabrina. I am going to be in Savannah in early Oct. for my nieces wedding. I would love to go to those 2 stores. I used to live in Sav. years ago. I haven't been in a few years but love it there. I need to get away from here for a few days and that's a great place to visit. If you could give me the addresses my sister could find them.

Also, I have no idea what needle felting is. I was at Hobby Lobby the other day and saw a lot of needle felting things but have no idea how it's done. I would like to learn.

Hey I may have some roving that you can have. Didn't I buy some for something that I never got to?

I just love the Needle felting items I've seen, but have no idea what is needed or how to do it. May have to see if I can find a turtorial that shows how to do it. Sounds like fun!

I love to needle felt. My favorite things to make are teddy bears. This little guy is taking me a while to finish, but he is getting there. I cannot even begin to imagine how many times I have poked my fingers and made them bleed, lol. But it is so worth it. It's awesome how the roving takes shape before your eyes.

I enjoy needle felting too, but seem to gravitate towards projects that involve felting fibers to a background fabric. It really is very therapeutic and stress-relieving to punch fibers into the background fabric. Here are some pics of a few projects I've done.

Wow marcy and merilyn your creations are awesome!! Mine do not look that great (but I DID just start!!)Brenda and Debra-I never could find "real" patterns for what I wanted to make, I did find a few tutorials and instructions online (youtube is the best because you can watch them do it) and that gave me a general idea otherwise I've been winging it. As a general rule I like patterns and directions in crafts but this is actually working ok for me!!

Mom-I'm sure you did :) I will definitely take it!

I will post pics eventually sorry just haven't gotten around to taking them yet :).

Kris I'll send you info on those stores. I went to the second one today, its much more knitting focused where the first one is slightly more eclectic with several different fiber arts type things. They are called Wild Fibre and Unwind (unwind is the one I went to today). If you google the names and savannah ga you will find their websites and facebook pages (unwind doesn't have much online but they do have a fb).
