If you are curious or just think I'm crazy, you can take a gander at the blog and see how to can bacon! It is great to take camping or for when you are out of electricity or if you have run out of freezer space. It really is good. I promise! :-)

I can't even imagine. Have you tried any to eat yet? Seems to me it would be about like jerkey. Just curious.

Yes, Kristin, we've eaten it. If you go to the post, you'll see how I fixed it. It was just like regular bacon - crisp and tasty. It is awesome to have for camping and when the electricity goes out and you have no frig!! Cook it in a skillet over a grill fire and call it breakfast! :-)

Looks like I have another project. I'll be watching for bacon to go on sale!

It's awfully expensive, isn't it? I just accidently found that 99 cent bargain because a really nice man standing in front of me in the checkout line asked me if I had seen it (he had a bunch) so I left the line and when back to the back and loaded up!! Bless him. :-)

I canned bacon for the first time a couple weeks ago. It turned out great! Very good tasting (I opened a jar yesterday morning and fried it to crisp it up) and I love that it didn't take forever to fry.

I'll be putting by more bacon as it goes on sale and as my grocery funds allow it.

Oh, I did sausage patties too. I made the bulk sausage into patties, browned them and slipped 8 into a wide mouth pint jar with parchment paper squares in between each. Pressure canned for 75 minutes.

Good for you, Annie!! Isn't the canned meat just great? I can sausage too and I just love having both the bacon and the sausage for breakfast.
