I am getting so frustrated with the cotton dishcloth type yarn (like Peaches and Cream, Sugar and Cream, etc.). It seems like what I'm making is always collecting stuff from I don't know where...almost like the yarn itself as it comes out of the skein is dirty. I read in an article that cotton yarn is known for attracting dirt and bits of stuff, and that's its downfall. Is this true? Is there anything I can about it? I just made a really neat thing for a friend and was so careful about it constantly being in a plastic bag when I wasn't working on it...and now that I look at it, it looks like someone mopped up the barn floor with it! (Ok, not that bad, but you get what I mean.) Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!

do you have any fabric softner sheets? if so cut a small hole in one & string your thread/yarn thur it from the ball & then pin it (fabric sheet)to something different from the ball...like maybe to the chair or your skirt...when you are using the yarn it will go thur the fabric softener sheet helping clean it & conditioning it so that you won't have as much stuff/dirt coming off of it once you are knitting/ect....it doesn't have to be one of those fancy smelly sheets but even if you put liquid fabric softener on a thin rag...let it dry & then use that instead of the dryer sheet....just know that the yarn will get tangled often so watch it but once you figure out where to put it(fabric sheet) & the tension to pull the yarn it will do alright for you.....so use another sheet to drag across your working project each time you are done with it to help get rid of dirt & give it the protective coating......Michele'
