My old watchband finally wore out today, so I remembered in Mary Jane's Stitching Room book that she had an idea for a watch band where you use scraps of fabric. I needed one desperately, so I cut up a two-inch wide strip of brown fabric about 15 inches long that I had left over from my shawl making ventures and used that. Instead of knotting the ends, I took plastic cabone rings and threaded the fabric on, then threaded it back through a couple of times to fasten it. It's much snugger than what the knots were, and it hasn't come undone all afternoon! Eventually I need to hem it up and border it with handmade tatted lace. :)
I made a watchband from an old hanky...I used a multicolored flowered (an old on of my Mom's)...didn't fold it neatly just bunched it diagonally and threaded it through the pegs on the watch and tied it! It's really cute and looks great with a denim jacket!
