I made a batch of applesauce in the slow cooker yesterday! Does anyone else use their slow cooker for applesauce and apple butter? I like that you don't have to worry about it burning or sticking. I posted the directions on my blog, hope you can stop by!

Hi Candy!

Boy that sure looks good! I bet your home smells wonderful too!

I use the crockpot (or slow cooker) for my Apple Butter recipe.

I also make my apple butter in the crockpot, its also good for rendering lard without burning it.

Candy, When I come to the Farm Kitchen section of the blog, I always look for your name to see what good thing you are cooking up now. This looks good. Cathy

Jonni,
You can freeze it, can it or just put it in the fridge and enjoy! It is also really good warm! :) I reckon it would keep for about a week in the fridge. I froze mine yesterday.

Awesome, thanks. I don't have as much energy as I did in the spring with canning, so I'll just get my containers together :)

Isn't it amazing hens what we do with our crockpots now??? back in the 1970's i hated them & ended up with 3 of them as wedding gifts....they all got given to others since back then everything you cooked in it tasted the same...or my foster mothers stuff always tasted the same no matter what she put in it...we have come a long way...now I adore my crockpot & make homemade yogurt, stone cut oats, rice pudding ect in it....I would be lost without it specially in the winter...my favorite is the stone cut oats that get put in the night before & ready in the morning....yum.....Michele'
