It may be way different when purchasing cows and such, but I'm wondering if there is a process for buying poultry at the state fair.

So far I have come up bust as far as trying to find adult laying chickens. I have posted want ads in our local Ag Review, Craig's list and our local Steals 'N Deals

So I'm wondering, if I see a bunch of chickens at this year's state fair, how do I go about purchasing a nice breeding pair and -or a bunch of single hens.

I'd love to make some 4-H kid's day. The catch is, I live about an hour away. So do I make an inquiry and then pick them up at the end of the fair?? Or can I take them home same day after judging?

Any other NC farm girls out there who can assist?

Why don't you call your extension office and see if that's how it's done? They'll know the 4h stuff at least, and have some tips for you probably.
