Any ideas how to not have the other kids sad that they are not there. It is weird only having two kids for a week. Kind of creepy. I am not use to other people being in charge and able to control my kids very strange feeling indeed. Husband said it would be good for ME if she went. LOL As I worry to much I don't think this will help only make it worse in my opionion. Any ideas the other two are already glum with no big sister it is like the three muskateers just lost their leader.

SUNSHINE,
Was thinking about you this morning, because I knew this was camp day. When my three were small it was always a little strange when one was missing.But I think the camp thing and being away, as long as the camper is happy is a good thing. The others will get there turn. Have them write to her, can she get mail? I used to love to get mail when I was at camp. Maybe do something special with two at home that you don't usually do. But I would say the important thing this week is if the camper is happy then we will all try to be happy too.

It is weird I didn't want to send my kids to camp until they where around 12 she is only 8. A bit young for me but hubby wanted to. So we did and she is exhited and I am stressed and kids are sad. I wish the camp was closer it took over 1 hour to drive her there and another hour back. The other kids just had a whole hour to mope both ways very quiet on the way home. Not the usual shes touching me and the like you know the kid sounds from the back seat that you wish would stop. But when they do you notice it more as something is missing.

I real nice thing happened today I got to use our central vaccum for the first time. My hubby finished installing it right before bed Saturday. So since I don't do chores on Sunday I went to tow this evening it is so much nicer than a normal vaccum

Camp! My mom went as a child in the northeast. I went several summer to Girl Scout Resident Camp. We both had a ball. My brothers both went to Boy Scout Summer Camps. My son had no interest in going to camp. My daughter went to Softball Camps. DH had separation anxiety, I didn't. I think it was because I went to camps. For me I avoided sending my daughter to the one camp she really wanted to attend, Texas A&M softball camp. When I began to realize her interest in softball might be waning I sent her to A&M. Reason, I wanted her to see as many of the Texas colleges as possible before A&M. I knew once she spent any time there she would be a future AGGIE for sure. Her dearest memories of her A&M camping experience were wonderful. I remember telling her that in certain areas of the campus she was not allowed on the grass as those places were considered hollowed ground of Aggies who died perserving our freedom in war. A&M used to be a military school and their traditions are precious to Aggies. Sure enough she forgot and several students told the group she was with to get off the grass. I warned her, lol. The second was going through a mini yell practice with the Yell Leaders. Never tell an Aggie they have only male cheerleaders, that will bring immediate correction and disdain. Aggies have Yell Leaders! Aggies don't cheer, they yell! There is a saying that the Longhorns can hear Aggies all the way to Austin during Midnight Yell and during the game if it is at Kyle Field. Believe me, those Aggies are loud during a game and they can be heard to the north end of Bryan, some twelve miles away, so I'm sure they are heard in Austin.
Sure enough, my daughter is now an AGGIE and becomes more of one as time passes. So much so, she laughs as she has what is called an "Aggie Moment." Her 4-runner is on it's last leg, last night we made the decision to get her a more dependable vehicle. DH has been drooling over the Ford F-350 4x4 King Ranch Trucks. So DD is getting his 2005 F-250 Lariat diesal extended cab. Talk about one happy Agiculture major. She only wishes it was marroon....typical AGGIE! She even saw her dream truck last night, a F-350 King Ranch extended cab dually diesal...my little Texas cattlewoman....
Camping is wonderful for kids, they learn so much, and have so much fun. The week or two your daughter is gone will be in her memory for many years to come. They also grow up so much during camp. Enjoy her wonderful stories when she comes home.

I am trying to be a good mommy I am just worried as now there is a severe thunder storm warning in effect for Tooele which is where the camp is. Nothing like a little more to worry about. I would guesss God is just showing me that she will be fine and throughing a few things out to prove it to me.

Sunshine you are a good mom. Camp will be a learning event for both of you. She will come home will stories and watch the excitment in her face. You will know all was right. Plan some special time with the other two and do things that they might like that big sister is to old for. Us mom's always worry it is part of our job. Congrads on the central vac. Isn't it GRAND!!!! I just love mine. I almost did not have one put in when we were building. Boy would I have missed out.
Pray for our troops to come home safe and soon.

Sunshine, if it makes you feel any better, the first time our son went to camp he was 5. Our church district does a mini-camp for going into 1st to going into 4th; they go for four days, three nights. The camp was literally down the street from home. We can walk there!!! Every day, my husband and I would park in a neighbor's driveway, just across from the camp and watch until we saw him on the play field.And guess what we did before we were married??We were both camp counselors! We knew he'd be ok and have fun, but he was leaving for the first time... He has gone to many different (and farther) camps since and it's still hard to send them out for a week.
As for those at home, have them write/draw send something to camp. If it's not going to get there on time, help them plan a welcome home party for their sister.
You and your daughter will be in my prayers. The week will be over before you know it!

Well she got stuck in a sever thunder storm today. We had to go up tonight for a memorial service at the camp. ( for those that have died do to contaminated blood from HIV and Hepititas , past tense she didn't die other people years ago)This is a bleeding disorders camp for those who have Von Willenbrand's Disease or Hemophillia. I and my children have the first. Just makes it all the more worrysome. She was fine but did need the protective clothing that I brought her. Supper bad storm see Katidid post under weather.
