Have you ever made a decision that can't be changed, then second-guess yourself? I recently did just that. I made a decision (won't bore you with the details), and am not sure if it was the right one. Anyway, I have made myself sick to my stomach for a week! I guess I just need to pray about this one! Still, no matter what I do, it's in the back of my mind! I know I need to move on about it, but it's nagging at me. What I want to know, is, do any of you do the same thing? One trait I truly admire about my daughter is that, from the moment she was a little toddler, when she makes a decision, that's it. No changing. Wish I had that gene!
Thanks for listening,
Nicole

M'dear, I ALWAYS second guess! I am awful at making decisions. I second and third guess my self all of the time. Always wondering about the path not taken. I hope that your tummy feels better soon. So, no you are not at all alone. My sister is very decisive and never looks back! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that you may know peace soon.

I have found that when is comes to something big, or at least big in my eyes, what ever decision I make, I will sleep on it for a week if possible, and if I still feel that my original decision was the right one, then I go with it, and if its something that I HAVE to make that decision right now, I go with my gut, cause it usually steers me right, and if not, live and learn...

Nicole, I'm still praying for you about this one. Like I told you, it is hardest to make the decision when there are so many pros and cons on either side of the decision to be made. I'm thinking of you and hoping you will find peace over this soon!

I thought it was just me lately. I was one of those who had clear vision, knew my mind and acted without worry. But for the past 5 years after some bad situtations I have found myself not only second guessing myself but most of the time feeling like a deer in the headlights. I am working hard at changing this process and knowing that change is good and that even if a decission did not work out it is O.K. to trust that the next decission will be just fine. I knot it is hard to trust when everthing around us looks like it is falling apart but as I thought me sons - try it, if you don't like it or if you did not get the results you had hoped for - try something else. I will always love you and trust in you NO MATTER WHAT!!! So believe in yourself and I am working on believing in myself.

Sometimes I do that. I ,too, have made myself sick to my stomach over something that can't be changed. I try to just say a prayer and move on. Usually I have slept on the decsion for a bit, so I remind myself that I didn't rush into the decision , that I've made the best decision I could. You know, sometimes I think it is the finality of the situation that gets to me. I don't know - I do find that as I am getting older it has become a little worse. I guess that is the gift of youth - when you could make a decision and feel invincible - because you really have no clue! LOL!

I did once... But then I thought, "Nah... I was right!" LOL!!!
My family tells me I think too much - ergo, yes, I second guess myself, I third guess myself... Usually when I'm faced with making a decision, I take my time, pray, and wait to see if I receive an answer. Uusually, I'm good with my decisions; but if for some reason it sticks in my craw, I know I've made the wrong choice, and, if possible, I rectify it. There's a lot to be said about woman's intuition, I think! ;)

Nicole- I dont think there is one of us out there that hasnt felt this way at one time or another. Best to just pray about it and know that what is meant to be will be. If by some chance it was the "wrong" decision (which I dont really believe there is a "wrong" decision- perhaps there was just a better one we passed up for the moment) then eventually everything will work itself out. Keep your positive attitude and everything will turn out positive in the end! Smiles and Hugs sent your way! IT will all be OK!

I do that too. I usually just stick with my decision as far as anyone else can tell, but in my own head I am wondering and wondering if I did the right thing. Sometimes. Sometimes I just know a decision is right and never look back.

Boy, do I know what you mean, Nicole. As I have grown older, however, I have learned something that has helped me so much. I learned that I am not all that smart and I don't have any control over anything except me and my attitude. :-) I used to make myself sick over decisions because somehow I thought that I was in control of SOMETHING with my decisions. I'd make a decision ok, but then I'd have conversations with myself for even years later!! Then I discovered that God actually knows a teensy bit more than I and that He can take everything I decide, even if it is wrong, and use it to His good purpose!! Sure took a load off my shoulders! Now, I do pray about my decisions and actions, but when I finally commit, I give it to God and just forget about it. It is always interesting to stand on the sidelines and watch Him work!! In Al Anon, they call it detachment. :-) I have found that when I worry, it's because I have this illusion that I have control over a situation. I don't have control over anything. Only God does!! Just thought I'd pass that new trick along from this old dog!

yep, I can make myself ill worrying before I make the decision and then worrying after I made it! I used to do much better at my decision making. I looked it over, sought counsel and made my decision and it was done. But I think what changed it for me, is now I have children and my decisions affect them. I spend a lot of time in prayer asking God for His peace, guidance and the faith to trust instead of worrying. I'm a born worrier and I don't want to be!
Excuse the mess & the noise, my children are making happy memories |
