I have found so much cool stuff over the summer (I have more time to go and look), I wanted to share! Please post your cool finds too! Most of mine were from thrift stores, or a local thrift store warehouse. I don't care for them as it takes WAY too long to find something, BUT on occasion I do- like this burlap bag full of beans! I thought I could make the bag into a pillow. Will see if the beans are any good! $6.00, because it was sold by weight.
My foley food mill, $3.00 and french bistro pitcher, 1 qt. size, $1.50 (half price). I always keep water on the dining table...
Breadbasket $1.50, just dusty and touched up with "old english"
Bread slicer, was missing the end, we cut some scrap plexiglass, works great!
Foley 5 cup sifter, $4.00 vintage store, works!
My husband found a camera tripod, for $6.00, worth over $100.00, boy was he happy!
Pocketwatch clock from the local Habitat Re-Store, $1.50, broken clock part, swapped from an old one I didn't want anymore. Cute! I saw something very close in the Pottery Barn catalog yesterday, was much smaller and over $60.00, wow! It's about 14" across...
I should add- I have gotten great deals over on eBay too- brand new, never worn, black, smooth leather clogs, Halflinger brand, $30.00 (for work), usally around $100.00 new. I HAVE to wear good shoes, stand alot on my job....
Wool sweater, $10.00 like new, was $65.00 new, I had the same one, years ago, wore out, like new! What a find!
Post your cool finds! Let's inspire each other!!!

A whole gi-normous bag of yarn for $6. One of the fancy skeins inside the bag was brand new and had the tag from the store still on it for $8. How awesome is that??

Amy - that's amazing! I recently found a couple bags of very nice yarn at a thrift store and it was half off - so for $4 I got 8 skeins!
Nancy - I've been looking for a clock for the basement - that's a very nice clock - and I love the breadbasket! Also, I saw empty burlap coffee bags at a recent farmer's market for $5 and they were empty! They make great pillows...
Inge - the Levi's were a steal! I love reading about great finds like this... Too fun - and inspiring!

Cool, I found a nice, mid-weight fall sweater (had some stains on the end of the sleeeve, couldn't get out) for $1.50. Figured I could hem the sleeves as I like 3/4 length anyway...

I'm kind of suprised hearing people saying how they're seeing more non-building material kind of things at the Re-Store places... I love my clock!

I love the pitcher!! I posted a pic a couple weeks ago of the cool coffee grinder I found it was only $5 and last weekend I found a spice rack (its a really common vintage spice rack but I don't know the age or anything, wooden rack, glass jars with glass lids). It was filthy and had old spices in it but a soak in vinegar and good scrub and it looks shiny and new and was only 25 cents!!! Would love to find at least one more of the same rack. I also found a little table loom that I bought for DD, all wood for 2.50. I hit the jackpot in garage sales and could have picked up a ton of sewing/craft stuff super cheap but I had the kids and it was getting hot and hubby wouldn't have been too thrilled :).

The glass pot part of my coffee maker had cracked. I hate to throw away what I don't need to so I checked on replacing it so I could continue to use the rest of the machine. It would have been $13, More than replacing the whole thing! Yesterday I found a replacement pot at a church rummage sale for $.25. Susan

Oh yes! I just save the pics to my desktop (I use the free Picasa), then upload them here... I'd love to get some small Le Creuset pieces. I have a cast iron, 5 qt. french stockpot w/lid, that a real workhorse for me. Got it new on QVC. Would love to get a smaller version...

I stopped at Goodwill today and found an Ann Taylor twin set in green 100% cashmere for $4.99. I will be felting the cashmere to use for my felted flowers. I have been using my own sweaters as stock (from sweaters that accidentally shrunk and those that got moth eaten while packed away during our move two years ago). You can see the flowers I make on my etsy shop and on my blog for custom creations.

LM, so where'd you find your stuff? Estate sales? I can never find any decent yard sales in Boise, unless I go to the expensive part of town, the "north end". Lost of vintage stuff there, sometimes...

All Goodwill finds! I have had to quit yardsales for now as we are trying to declutter and get our current house ready to sell so we can move out to our land. Our GW are really good here and most things are flat priced.
We have great friends who just moved to Boise. Dh wanted to live in Coeur d' Alene most of his teens and 20's. Never could get west though. After he went to college in Utah we have always lived east of Oklahoma.

At one estate sale I got 7 yds of fabric for 4 dollars and at one of my many frequently visited thrift stores I got 3 pairs of shorts overalls for a dollar a piece. This last weekend I found a hot water canner, dirty but in good shape with the insert for the cans for 8 dollars. I love sale shopping, a good deal always makes my day

In Wasilla there is a lovely little store called Younique Boutique, which has slightly used fashionable items. I bought four shirts, a watch, a little change purse and two purses for 75$! The shop to say the least was a cute, small lovely little store full of pink and pretty things.

I have found some great purses at Goodwill- a $4.00 like-new suede Eddie Bauer hobo bag, sold it on eBay for $25.00, a red like-new "healthy back" purse for the same. Got a saddle leather, 2 sided laptop tote/purse for $7.00, cleaned it up with saddle soap, looks brand new! Can't decide if I should sell it, it's so pretty. My 24 year old daughter sorted some more of her old boxed stuff- got an embriodery kit, and a cute butterfly frame she didn't want. Fun, as she has more boxes to go thru!
