They are in Livingston, Montana. She is staying with her sister right now. She saids she is not coming back here to Florida. She is trying to get off drugs. Montana is a long way. She said I could fly up and see my grand son any time I want to. But that will probably never happen because I hate to fly. I throw up the whole time I am on the plane. It takes a week just about to drive up there. So I do not see my self going to Montana any time soon. A week to drive up there and a week to drive back. Plus the time just to stay a few days. That is over 2 weeks we would have to take off of work. We cannot afford to close down for that long. I am saddened I will probably not get to see my only grand son grow up. But then I am Thankful to God for the first 8 months I got to keep him. I will keep in touch with him through mail and internet as he gets older. I keep reminding my self to count my blessings and be thankful for what I do have in life. Maybe one day he will come back to us. You never know what God has in his plan. In the mean time I will not let it steal my joy.

Sounds like she's trying to do the right thing--I hope it works for her and that she can be a good mom to that boy. There's nothing that says she won't let him come visit someday, maybe when she gets her head right. You don't fly, but he probably will!
Thank goodness they're safe and thank goodness for Facebook and email. I hate technology usually, but it sure does bring family a closer when they're across the continent.

It's still illegal for her to have him out of state because it infringes on your son's parental rights. This will keep advancing I'm sure.

Some states also allow for grandparents rights. Which involve a certain amount of distance between the child and the parent, which I'm certain you qualify for.
I have known of grandparents and parents who swapped payin for the child to travel for visits.
There was a woman at my church who got custody of her grandchild due to the father takin her 3 states away and her daughter didn't pursue custody for her own reasons. The woman was able to prove that the father was makin no effort to give visitation and all states have a travel distance law on the books. She said it was actually a very easy case to win and involved very little time or money. The father was found in contempt of court for moving and the law took over with the rest of it. All she had to do was go pick her granddaughter up and bring her home.
Just a thought. I don't know your life or if you could take on a baby full time or what you feel right about doin. I'm just sharin knowledge.

So relieved to know they are safe. I am sorry that you don't get to see him grow up...but you never know what the future holds.

I'm happy you found out Dorinda. If you don't want to go the legal route, then just send lots of cards and little gifts. Stay on her good side as best you can and if she can't get off drugs then everyone may find the boy is better off with you and you have shown a loving interest in him.

there are drugs that can help you get on the plane and go and visit. I never would fly before either but now I take my meds and go because I want to see my grandkids and I figured I needed to get over the fear. Try some they do work and I think it would be worth it to go and see him!!!!

Dorinda,
Please, at least, consult an attorney and see what they say. Do that favor for yourself.

also, remember about skype----it is free and you can actually talk to and see him---though he is very young....you can still see him and be involved. True its not the same but it is so reassuring to see him.
Best of luck.

Thanks for all the encouragement. I am going to start sending some of his stuff in the mail. I saw one of my girl friends this morning and she told me she would fly up with me any time I was ready to go. Florida is one of the worst states for grandparent rights. That's what I have found out. Any ways maybe she will give him over to me as he gets older. She told me one time that if she got where she could not take care of him she would turn him over to us. I am trying to stay positive. She has physical medical problems. I am hoping as he starts to walk that she will think about that.
