One of my pepper plants, red bell pepper, has all of a sudden got the "droopys". The plants around it are fine. It has fruit, but all the leaves just drooped one day. It has heated up, but they are watered well. Thought I may have over watered and have let off for 2 days, but the plant does not look like it is recovering. Again, all the peppers around it (different varieties) are doing fine.
Any ideas? Quick, it is almost dead :(.

Maybe a bug that has cut through the stem blow ground level and since it is staked it will not fall over. I've had a couple different plants that have had that happen to them and I don't know what kind of bug it is.

My friend thought it might be voles.....we have had them before. Normally, my dog will alert me if they are resident in my garden. I went to our garden center, he recommended some fertilizer. My plants are pretty close, so someone might be sucking its' energy. I will keep posting..either I save it, or not. Thanks all!

Oh my goodness - the same thing happened to me! I have a raised bed and along with lots of other vegetables, I usually grow hot peppers/chilis for salsa. I had 3 different varieties of hot peppers (2 plants of each) and my two at the end suddenly drooped over, dried up and died even though they were properly watered and fertilized and none of the other plants around it seemed effected! I have no idea what happened and, so far, it hasn't happened to any other plant in there. I wish I had better info for you - I know how heartbreaking garden loss is. All that time, effort, attention, care and concern just to have something go kaput!

Sad, isn't it?
I have since pulled it out. I went to see the Master Gardener's, and they are stumped too. The roots were fine, so no wilt. I am watching my other plants like a hawk!! :)
My only thought is that it may have been a bug. The bugs are crazy now. I had a ton of holes in m tomatoes, and did not catch the worm buggars until I misted with BT (will detail in other post).
As for the peppers, one other thing may be that I planted cucumbers in the same box. I could be that this variety, red bell, does not do well wth them. I am sure the roots are everywhere.

I forgot to mention I also had that happen this year to a tomato plant. Strangely enough, it was planted in a in a planter in a row with several others on my back patio - quite a distance from my raised bed where the peppers went down. I just went out and it was drooped to the ground and dried out as if it had no water, but it had perfect soil moisture levels in the planter and no other tomato near it showed any of the same symptoms. I haven't (knock wood) had it happen to any other plant in my raised bed except those two peppers. Total mystery!
