As every one knows I am extremely new to sewing.
I found this machine on Craig's list for 70 dollars (comes with cabinet) the man is a retired engineer and refurbish's sewing machines as a hobby.
Any way, I want this machine cause it's heavy duty ALL metal, and has a 1.3 amp motor. (sounds awesome to me)
I'm scared about learning how to use it! lol
Any one ever see this kind, know where I could get a manual on it?

You could email the gentleman who is selling it and ask for the make and model#. then go to the company's web site and see if they have a downloadable manual. I f they don't you can call and see if they have a hard copy they could mail to you.

Heather, I know nothing about that brand, but if you Google it, you will get some information from the many links.
In forty five years I have had the use of only three Singers, but I believe that there are really only two kinds of the older non computerized machines--they use either Singer style drop front bobbins, or sideways in a case under the plate.
Based on the wear pattern of the paint on the front, it wasn't a dud, and was certainly used. I would ask if it has the basic attachments that you will need, or if they are hard to find. |

Is it a pfatf ? Does it have 2 belts or one? I just bought a singer 1950's zigzag for $5.00 at a tag sale and it works like a charm. If this is a white, singer or pfaft you have a great machine.

Grace I'm not sure what it is.
However, I think Joanna is on to something, after looking at all the zig zag's I'm almost certain that is what it is.
However, I think I went through every picture and I don't think I found a exact match. This is the closest I found-

I did send a email off asking the gentleman some more questions.
He's about 2 hours away from where I live. But, I think for the price it will be worth it if it's a good machine. I also told him to be on the look out for me a bernina 930 and/or a older elna as well.

Connie you are exactly right! It is a Dial N Sew. I found out from him. I went ahead and bought it! I did ask him the model number but he didn't know with out looking at the bottom (it was screwed into the cabinet) well I still don't know! lol It's in the car though still as my husband didn't feel like bringing it in, he will tomorrow, and then I will look at the bottom (it is out of the cabinet, but after using it at his home and all I decided to get it no matter the model number) but tomorrow I will start searching with the model number for it's manual.
Well, now that makes sense that it is from St. Louise. Cause this man is only about 6 hours from St. Louise. I have noticed that the area you are in makes all the difference in the world to what you will find! For his area there is a lot of variety (Necchi, Dial N Sew, Singer and a few others). Here where I live it's all singers and New Home's! For Oklahoma just a few hours away they have the berninas! (what I covet!) And then for where my in laws live in Queens NYC, near Long Island is a TON of kenmores! I had no idea brands of sewing machines were so regional! But, that's sure what I am finding on Craig's List!

oh just to add I thought I was looking at the bobbin in front too but actually that is the tension knob. The bottom is on the side though underneath (not in a easy area! UHG! That will be a challenge, kind of why I didn't want a bernina 817 and wanted a bernina 930-still on my dream list! lol). But, it is a good machine so far, but wow is it going to take some getting used to for the threading, there's a LOT of steps and places to put the thread before it's all threaded! It goes around that knob twice in this mechanism thing and then up and through two more loops and on and on and on and on! lol haha And just a btw this does have a lot of the same features though that a bernina 817 has as well. I won't need a 817 now! And I thought the 817 was a difficult thing to thread...this thing has about 6 more steps then that! lol
I think I will just keep going to the shop I go to on sew in days and keep trying to use their 817 as it seems to be really close to this in features, and I may learn more about it that way.
Other then that, in about six months I will try to have 125 dollars saved up where the shop's co-owner will give me a one on one sewing class and teach me to use the machine along with a lot of other things. (total of 8 hours of teaching) I need to take the class though no matter the machine. I still have so much to learn! UHG! So far so good though.
