I really love it. Now I have to figure out how to make money doing it. I sell some veggie boxes, eggs, bread and flowers but only make about $250=$300 a week. I still have to work outside at least a day a week to make enough for us to get by.
Little by little , step by step. It will start to build into something more.
It's hard to start from bare land.

LOL tell me about it! Our land was over cultivated and flooded with chemicals for goodness knows how many years before I bought it. We left it fallow except for cover crops turned over 1-2 times a year for 8 years with added compost. It is finally alive and organic again. We plan to start our blueberries, black berries and orchard this fall. The veggie garden will be moved to the closest field and expanded next spring. Now the hard work starts! ow long have you been working this plot? Connie

Wow Connie ! That's an impressive effort. How sad that it takes so much to switch over to organic from "conventional" ( what a word huh? . That sounds like a fun project. Good luck. We bought forty acres of undeveloped land five+ years ago and have cleared shrubby brushy dead treed areas for gardens etc. But the soil is like white sand with some yellow sandstone and pockets of yellow clay. But with lot's of manure and compost added it seems to grow stuff pretty well. Although grass, as in pasture is a challenge and I don't know how to get that much manure.Trying cover crops but they barely grow between deer and summer drought here in Ca.

I'm only working with 14 acres and a bout half that is wooded! Not so much as 40! We have only cleared a small amount around the house to keep the critters at bay. Clearing is much harder than growing cover crops. I can appreciate the work you have done! I can say keep at adding the compost. It eventually adds up. : ) What you have done is beautiful the rest will come with time! Connie
